My name is Alan Sorrell, chef and founder of “Portside Grille Caterers.” I grew up watching my grandmother in the kitchen, learning as much as I could from her and other family
members. I got my first job as a dishwasher and eventually became a line cook. I fell in love with learning and watching food be prepared on a professional level. I eventually became “banquet captain” where all food operations concerning banquets became my responsibility. I went on to become an Executive Sous Chef and very soon after I became an Executive Chef. Once I became an Executive Chef, I started to further my education because I was now responsible for the business aspect of the restaurant.
