Just a few videos of the dress since photos don't quite do it justice. I've been creating flower art since I was old enough to hold and recognize a flower. Flowers have always been a constant in my life, and creating with them helps me get through the ups n downs. Every bouquet, bunch, boutonniere, flower dress, or sculpture is what keeps me going. I'm able to process my thoughts and emotions into colors and designs, and the end result reminds me that there's still so much beauty in the world.

Thanks again to my dad for helping me on this one and for the cool opportunity.

Here is the flower dress I created for the show at the in downtown Chicago. My dad grew up in Chicago so I knew I wanted his help with the install and let's just say he might be adding flower designer to his resume. We ended up winning florist favorite which was an honor since we were surrounded by so many talented floral artists. I came away inspired and we are already scheming on our design for next year!

Hi everyone, this is all better late than never, but as you probably noticed, I am not hosting a Mother's Day event this year. After 10 years of wonderful Mother's Day Markets, we have decided to take a break this season. My transition to my grandparent's property is going well, although taking a lot longer than planned. I also lost someone very close to me at the beginning of this year, and it's taking some time for me to feel like myself again. I still haven't found the right words for this loss, but when they do finally come to me I will share with you all.

It felt strange this week to not be preparing for our usual BIG event, so last minute, I've decided to put some offerings out there for a few pickup locations. You can choose from pickup at Duncan Manor in Towanda this Saturday (May 9th) OR pickup options in Eureka and Congerville this Sunday (May 10th). The pickup location in Congerville is at my grandmother's farm/home, which is now the new home of Kira's Flowers-- so if you place an order for pickup here, you can check out the new place!

Here's what's available for pre-order:

•Cut Flower Plants | $6 **Plant a cut flower garden for your mother or yourself! These are some of my favorite cut flower varieties. I find gardening and making bouquets to be a very healing act.

•Edible Flowers | $6/box **Nice mix of a variety of pansies plus a few marigolds. Perfect for Mama's Day brunch.

•MAMA's DAY BOUQUET $75/each **These are beautiful and are made up of 100% Illinois-Grown flowers. You'll find alliums, pennycress, iris, tulips, butterfly ranunculus, and a couple peonies in each bouquet.

•Summer Flower CSA & Dahlia CSA | There are still spots in both of these CSAs. Sign up on my website under Purchase CSA tab. If you'd like a gift certificate to present to your mother, just let me know, and I can bring to one of the pickup locations!

Deadline to order is Friday at midnight. Order online at www.kirasflowers.com/mothersday. Thank you so much. I hope to host a Mother's Day Market at the NEW farm next year and will see you all at the first Riverfront Market in just a couple weeks. Can't wait for your hugs. 🌸

For the last 2 weeks my aunt Beth and her partner Otis have been working sun up til sun down cleaning out decades of antiques, machines, tools, and lumber that had slowly filled up the shed my grandpa built in the late 1980s. They took the train all the way from California to help me with this BIG endeavor.

My aunt led the project and helped me figure out my vision for this new space. The shed was originally built by my grandpa, my uncle Henry, and my great uncle Joe. There's a basement which was dug by my uncle who worked on it every day after coming home from school. There's a main work area and a small "upstairs" which will eventually be where I hang my flowers to dry.

Two calamities happened during the construction. One time a large rain caused the cinder block wall of the basement to cave in and another time a large windstorm blew off the roof and walls just after they had been completed. At one point my grandpa fell to his knees in despair and almost gave up on it. But my uncle took over and took apart the damaged boards, pulled out every nail, then redesigned the building to make it more storm resistant. They finally completed the shed. When my grandpa retired from being a professor in the late 1990s he was hoping to finally use it as a proper workspace. Unfortunately his eyesight deteriorated quickly and he couldn't work on projects the way he had hoped. The shed continued to fill up and became a storage space for the last 20 years.

When my grandpa passed away last spring I decided to finally make the big move to my grandparent's land. The shed will be the perfect space to process and arrange my flowers. My aunt went above and beyond preparing it for my use. We decided to do half the floor in rubber mats to waterproof the area for easy cleanup of all the drip drops from flowers and flower debris. The other half has a wood floor now which will be used as storage and an area to work that's solid and level. The sections are separated by a gravel alley which will be perfect for backing up my truck to unload the flowers.

I am very happy with the space. And as my aunt texted me last night "the shed is very happy", too. My grandpa sent me two signs during the cleanup- a native bittersweet vine I'd never noticed before crawling beside the shed. Bittersweet symbolizing the joy and sorrow that comes with change. And yesterday after our ribbon cutting ceremony he sent a swirl of starlings which flew around us blessing the shed. The group of starlings signifying transformation and strength in community.

This project could not have been done without Beth, Otis, my mother, my grandma, my uncle Henry and so many other family members who were put to work over the holidays. I'll never forget this incredibly generous act and am now one step closer to being ready for next season.

My mother and I love providing you all with florals, fruit, herbs, and value-added products that are good for you and the environment in which we all live. Every purchase supports us directly and is part of a movement towards a better world.

2026 will be a year of transition for me! The BIG move to my grandparent's property is underway. I will still have access to the East Peoria farm as we slowly but surely get everything moved here to Congerville. Thank you for your patience as this has been and will be quite the endeavor. Thankfully, I have an amazing family who believe that "many hands make light work". Excited for this season and the future- being able to grow and live on a farm with reliable water will be a game-changer. Thank you for your continued support during this transition. 🌼

Several cotton angels found homes today, but I still have plenty for you. Come see me tomorrow at for day 2 of their holiday open house. Look for me in the servant's quarters with cotton angels and gift toppers. I'll be next to my friend and all her cool nature art. I'll have candles and room sprays with me, too!

•Cotton Angels | $15/each or 3 for $40 comes with a gift box! (I have both plain and decorated with dry flowers).
•Gift Toppers | $5/each or 2 for $8 (these are mini bouquets perfect for putting on top of a gift or in a bud vase)

My Potted Paperwhites are on sale at Heritage Farmers Market now!! Priced to sell! All are between $10 and $25.

Are you having guests for the holidays? Use one as a centerpiece on your dining table or put in the guest room to spruce up the space! They are just starting to put on buds and bloom. The blooms are sparkly white and have a lovely fragrance.

I also dropped off the last of the dry bouquets! Also, priced to sell! Check out Heritage's cute gift shop and stock up on meat while you're at it. They offer all cuts of meat from Bittners (and meat bundles!) plus trays of homemade Christmas cookies and so much more. 🎄

Stop in soon to Heritage Farmers Market.
20235 IL Rte 9 in Pekin. Open M-F 10 to 6 and Sat 9-4.

Just a big ol' wreath for a Bradley professor and longtime customer.

I want to thank everyone who came out to the Cultures of Peoria market Saturday night. Some of you have been supporting me for yearrrrs and some of you, we just met! All are appreciated.

I'm going to hibernate now, but before I do I have a few more orders to fulfill and plan on bringing anything that's left to Heritage Farmers Market sometime this week (yes, there are still some cotton angels, dry bouquets, paperwhites, and amaryllis). I'll announce when I do! 🎄
