Update 💛
So for those who haven’t been keeping up with me the last week or so… buckle up.

On Oct 4, I woke up around midnight sick. Went back to bed, woke up again at 3 AM, and couldn’t stop heaving. Ended up at the local ER, where they said “gallstones,” but they didn’t have the equipment for testing, so I got transferred to Cape Fear Valley in Fayetteville.

Once there, I ran the full gauntlet of tests. They found a narrowed common bile duct, placed a stent, and diagnosed me with pancreatitis — all while saying my gallbladder still needs to come out, but they can’t remove it until the pancreatitis clears. I was discharged with instructions to follow up Saturday.

Sunday, I woke up with a painfully swollen, tender stomach. I tried to tough it out. Monday, it was worse. I called Cape Fear, and they told me to come back to the ER. So I did — and sat in their waiting room for four hours while every other patient was called back. I finally said “nope” and left, determined to find better care.

Tuesday, my mother-in-law drove me to Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Within five hours they did a CT with contrast, ran labs, and immediately told me I no longer had pancreatitis. They could see the stent, but said it’s sitting a bit wonky and could be causing the pain I’m still having.

Also (TMI maybe), I hadn’t had a bowel movement since Oct 3 — and Cape Fear never once asked about it. Meanwhile, they’d been treating me with Dilaudid, which I learned at Rex can actually make the gallbladder spasm and worsen things.

The Rex team talked with their surgical department and agreed to take over my case from Cape Fear. My surgical consult is scheduled for Nov 10, and my P*P is helping manage symptoms until then.

I can’t work this weekend (still recovering from all the tests and travel), but I’m hopeful to return to light work by next Friday in Raleigh. I’d be incredibly grateful for help with setup at a few upcoming events:
• Fall Fest at Red Dirt Customs in Raleigh – Sat, Oct 25
• Trunk-or-Treat at McGee’s Crossroads – Oct 30, 2–7 PM
• Cotton Festival – Oct 31 – Nov 1

I’ll gladly share a portion of my proceeds from each event as a thank-you for your time 💛

Thank you all for the outpouring of support — it’s meant a helluva lot. I’ve been missing my parents something fierce this week; the 7th was Mom’s death day, and I was out of it in the hospital.

Love and appreciation to everyone who’s followed along this grand adventure with me. 💛

I’m diving into a brand-new commission for Creating Sparkles✨

This set is all about K-Pop stencil art — bold shapes, clean lines, and a whole lot of stage energy. The mix of adorable mascots and fierce logos has been so fun to translate into stencil form.

A few previews are in the works, and yes… the glitter may make an appearance. 😉

Stay tuned for the full reveal — this one’s going to shine brighter than a comeback stage. 🌈🎶

Hey crew! 🏴‍☠️
Just got released after a week-long hospital adventure — turns out I’ve got pancreatitis and a rogue gallbladder that needs evicting.

Now I’m home, slightly unhinged on pain meds, which means… it’s art time. 💀✏️
Here’s an in-progress timelapse of my latest Buggy piece — starting with color blocking before I dive into the scribble shading chaos. ❤️💙

He may lose his limbs, but at least he’s got style.

Update 💛
Finally getting discharged from Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville! 🎉 Back in normal clothes and feeling human again. Still have some recovery ahead before surgery, but it feels so good to be heading home.

Huge shoutout to the nursing staff here — they’ve been absolute angels through all of this. 💕

Peace out, hospital life ✌️

Work + Health Update 💛
Looks like I’m going to be out of work until at least the start of November — maybe a little sooner if recovery goes smoothly. I’ve got to heal from the pancreatitis first, and once that settles, they’ll go ahead and remove my gallbladder. So it’s going to be a bit of a road.

David’s job has us covered for the basics, but the money I usually bring in was supposed to go toward fixing our roof — so if anyone feels like tossing a little support my way, it would honestly mean the world right now.

Mostly, I’m just focusing on getting well enough to be back at my booth and painting happy faces again soon. 💛

Health Update 💛
For anyone who hasn’t been following — Saturday morning I went to the ER for nonstop vomiting and severe abdominal pain. I started out at the hospital in Dunn, but they transferred me to Cape Fear Valley in Fayetteville since the first hospital didn’t have the right equipment for the tests they needed.

Since then, I’ve run the full gauntlet of tests — MRI, ultrasound, endoscopy, and CT. They originally thought it was just my gallbladder, and while there’s some sludge in it, there aren’t any actual stones. What they did find was a narrowed bile duct, so they placed a stent during the endoscopy.

Unfortunately, I started feeling worse afterward, and this morning’s CT showed that I now have pancreatitis. So, surgery is on hold until that clears up.

The good news: once I can keep food and fluids down, I’ll be able to go home and finish treatment from there. 💛

Health + Work Update 💛
Hey friends — just wanted to keep everyone in the loop. I’ve been in the hospital since Saturday with constant vomiting and a lot of abdominal pain. They’ve ruled out a gallstone, but the pain hasn’t let up.

After today’s surgical consult, the plan is to monitor me for the rest of the day and then remove my gallbladder laparoscopically tomorrow. Hopefully that finally brings some relief.

That being said, I’ll be out of work for most of October while I recover. I’m hoping to make it back in time for Cotton Days — it’s my biggest event of the year — but it’ll depend on how recovery goes.

If anyone would be willing to help me with setup once I’m back on my feet, I’d be super grateful. I can work, just can’t lift more than 25 lbs — and my canopy weights alone are 40.

Thank you all for the love, patience, and check-ins. I appreciate you more than I can say. 💛

Health + Work Update 💛
Hey friends — just wanted to give a quick update. I’ve been in the hospital since Saturday with constant vomiting and a lot of abdominal pain. They’ve ruled out a gallstone, but we still don’t know what’s causing everything yet.

I haven’t been able to keep food or fluids down for a couple of days, and they’re running more tests today — a nuclear scan to check how my gallbladder and bile ducts are working. They did place a stent in one of the ducts, but it hasn’t helped much so far. Right now, we’re talking about possibly removing my gallbladder altogether so I won’t have to keep dealing with this.

That being said, I’ll likely be out of work for most of October while I recover. I’m hoping to make it back in time for Cotton Days — it’s my biggest event of the year — but that depends on how recovery goes.

If anyone would be willing to help me with setup when I am able to return, I’d be incredibly grateful. I can still work, just can’t lift more than 25 lbs — and my canopy weights alone are 40.

Thank you all so much for the love, patience, and check-ins. It really means the world right now. 💛

Update:
Looking like a gall stone is stuck. We've done a CT 2 ultrasounds and an MRI. Waiting on results of the MRI and depending on what that says we will do a special endoscopy tomorrow that would hopefully give us more answers. Right now there isn't a treatment plan in place as we don't know what's going on just yet. That being said unfortunately I am putting my next two events on notice I may not be able to attend 😞. They said I will likely be in the hospital through Wednesday.

For those hoping to see me today I am so sorry but I cannot make denim days. I was up all night sick and came to the ER about 4. They believe I have a gall bladder stone. About to be xfered to Fayetteville for more testing.
