Maquoketa, it's about to get weird. 🎃🃏 I'm headlining the Maquoketa Halloween Spooktacular Masquerade Ball this Halloween (Sat. Oct. 31)!

The party starts at 7 PM, but I hit the stage at (approximately?) 10 PM for a full hour of LOLs, WTFs, and dangerous tricks.

Just a heads up: The razor blades are a little rusty. The rabbit is a little dead. And the antique iPad is definitely haunted. 👻

Hit the link IN THE COMMENTS to find out how to score your advance tickets, see the full party details, and lock this beautiful chaos into your calendar.

I am newish to the Dubuque area and have a bit of a rock and roll history mystery I hope you can help me solve.

One of my favorite songs is Bob Seger’s anthem "Turn the Page," but a lot of people don’t know that the second verse was heavily inspired by an incident right here in Dubuque.

According to Seger’s road manager back in the early seventies, Tom Weschler, the band was driving home through a harsh winter storm when they stopped at a restaurant here in town. He specifically remembered that the inside of the place was intensely bright with absolutely no dark corners to hide in. The band members all had long hair, which stood out so much back then that a bunch of local guys in the restaurant started staring them down, laughing, and giving them a hard time, asking if they were women or men. That exact tense situation is what Seger ended up writing into the lyrics about shaking off the cold and feeling the eyes upon you.

Since I live in the area, I am dying to know exactly *where* this happened.

Does anyone know which late-night, brightly lit Dubuque restaurant or truck stop would have been open during a winter storm back then?

If you have any leads, memories from that era, or know exactly what old local spot fits the description, please let me know in the comments.
