A Little Life Update

I’ve had several people reach out wondering why I’ve closed The Black Fig Room and why I’m no longer taking baked goods orders or doing vendor markets—so I wanted to share a bit of what’s been going on behind the scenes.

Back in March, we received news that my husband was being referred to IU Health for a kidney transplant. Since then, we’ve spent the spring and summer in a whirlwind of doctor appointments, education classes, and paperwork. We’re now just one final step away from his case being reviewed by the transplant team, and we’re hopeful for answers in the coming weeks.

At the same time, I’ve also been navigating some of my own health issues, and together we’re working with a Functional Medicine team to support healing from all sides. One big shift we’ve made is moving to a strict diet—no sugar, gluten/flour, or dairy—which makes continuing in the baking world a little tricky at the moment.

So for now, I’m pressing pause—to care for my family, focus on my health, continue my work with FWCS, and finally check off a few things on our project list.

This isn’t goodbye, just a gentle reset. When the time is right, I hope to pivot my party business in a new direction.
