This Saturday in Milford is worth the drive.

Honaker Home Scents & Crafty Day Events is bringing local artisans together for a full outdoor market at Kensington Mill Falls Events — handmade soap, jewelry, Scentsy, 3D prints, woodworking, baked goods, and more.

This is not a big box store. Every product at this market was made by a real person who showed up early, set up their own table, and put genuine work into what they're selling.

That's worth supporting.

🎨 Comfortably Uncomfortable Crafts — hand-drawn coloring books, greeting cards, bookmarks, and beaded plants built around finding comfort in life's discomfort.

🪵 Koda's Home — charcuterie boards, woodworking, door signs, porch kneelers, shadow boxes, and quilting.

An organizer just asked you to pay your booth fee. Before you do — send one message first.

Not to your bank. Not to Venmo. To the organizer.

Ask them for the names of two or three vendors who worked their last show. Then actually reach out to those vendors and ask four questions: Was attendance what they promised? Did the event run on schedule? Were vendors treated with respect? Would they do it again?

That conversation takes fifteen minutes. It could save you hundreds.

Here is the part nobody talks about: a vendor who had a bad experience will almost always tell you when you ask directly and privately. People protect each other in this community. The Metro Detroit maker and vendor scene is tight-knit — and that is one of the most powerful tools you have before committing to any show.

And if the organizer won't give you references? Goes quiet? Gets defensive? That silence is your answer. Legitimate organizers welcome this question because they have nothing to hide.
