We will be celebrating Kim’s life this Saturday in McKinney, TX. Then we will celebrate again in Metairie, LA on June 27th… She’s worth more than one celebration! 💜💜💜 There is not much parking space, so we have permission to use the lot @ Metairie Bank, across the street. Dear classmates,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beautiful, dear friend and classmate, Kimberly Kimble Cotton. She has been privately battling cancer since her diagnosis in March 2025.

Kim was such a special part of our school days, and our present lives. Many of us will always remember her smile, laughter, generosity, and the memories we shared together. She sure knew how to light up a room with her zest for life!

We take this moment to remember Kimberly and celebrate the impact she had on all who knew her. Though she may no longer be with us physically, she will always remain a part of our Riverdale Class of ‘89 family.

Please keep her loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. May Kimberly rest peacefully and forever live on in our hearts.

Funeral or ceremony arrangements have not been finalized as of yet. Updates will be posted here.

Congratulations to our Distinguished Alumnus Award winner for the College of Honors, Dr. Samuel A. Hickey, Jr.!

Dr. Hickey is a board-certified pediatrician and proud Southeastern alumnus who has served the Northshore community for over 20 years. While doing so, he has cared for generations of families and held leadership roles at North Oaks Medical Center, including Chief of Staff.

He earned his biology degree from Southeastern with an Honors certificate and his M.D. from LSU School of Medicine. His dedication has earned him numerous honors, including the 2023 Best Pediatrician of Tangipahoa award.

Dr. Hickey’s lifelong commitment to healthcare and service reflects the values of Southeastern, and he continues to represent the university and College of Honors with pride.
