Best Friends to Sisters! This one has a little story behind it.

Before Anna Kate ever met Costen, she and Lainey were roommates, sorority sisters, and best friends.

Then Lainey introduced her best friend to her brother.

They fell in love.

And eventually… Anna Kate married her best friend’s brother. 🥹

Late in the reception, Lainey asked me to play “My Best Friend’s Brother.” I misunderstood her at first, but thankfully we got it in right before the final song of the night.

And I’m so glad we did.

Watching these two dance, laugh, and then just hold onto each other at the end… that’s the stuff I love about weddings.

Sometimes a song isn’t just a song.

It tells part of the story. ❤️

I posted this a year ago, and seeing it again reminded me why I love moments like this.

Final dances can look completely different from one wedding to the next. Some couples want one last big, upbeat song. Some want everybody singing together. And some want to slow everything down and just soak in the last few minutes of their wedding day.

For these two, “Night Changes” by One Direction was the perfect choice.

There’s no right way to do a final dance. It’s about what feels like you.

Your day. Your story. My job is to listen, help create the moment, and make sure we tell it well.

And this was a pretty great moment.

Sometimes the stories that stay with us have nothing to do with weddings.

This morning, an unexpected stop gave me a few minutes to sit and watch kids walking into school, coaches investing in young lives, and people from every kind of background simply doing life together.

And it reminded me again why we say it so often around here:

Every story matters.

We all have the opportunity to add something good to somebody else’s story today.

Love people well. Show up. Be kind.

It matters more than we know.

A couple asked me today why I do what I do.

Why weddings? Why DJ? Why officiate?

Sixteen years ago, I’m not sure I could have answered that question the way I can today.

Because sometimes we don’t get complete clarity at the beginning. Sometimes God gives us a process instead.

And that process changes us.

It teaches us. Humbles us. Develops character in us. Changes the way we see people. Changes the way we love people. And prepares us for things we never could have seen coming.

Sixteen years ago, I couldn’t have told you this journey would include a wedding business, hundreds of couples and families, or even a cancer diagnosis. It hasn’t looked exactly like I thought it would.

But looking back, I can see how every season has shaped the way I serve people today.

So maybe we don’t have to understand the entire destination right now.

We just keep showing up. Keep growing. Keep trusting. Keep submitting to the process.

Because the process isn’t just taking us somewhere.

The process changes us.

One of my favorite things about Colton & Caison’s wedding was how much their night felt like them.

Their music wasn’t just a playlist. They chose songs that meant something to them and their friends, and we worked together throughout the night to make sure everything flowed the way they wanted it to.

And then came the last dance.

“Look After You” by The Fray

Such a unique choice — and absolutely perfect for this moment.

But what I loved most was watching them stop. Talk to each other. Look around the room. And just soak it all in.

For a few seconds, they weren’t thinking about what was next.

They were just there.

Their people. Their night. Their story.

And sometimes the best thing you can do is stop long enough to realize:

We’re going to remember this.

For a few seconds, it felt like they were teenagers again.

Three sisters who have grown up together, walked through life together, and probably danced around so many times together to this BILLIE EILISH song—now spinning across the dance floor on the night Gracie became a wife.

The joy on their faces said it all.

Life changes. Families grow. New chapters begin. But some things never change.

The laughter.
The memories.
The love between sisters.

These are the moments I never want to miss as a DJ. The story being told.

Congratulations, Gracie & Trey! It was an amazing night.

A lot of people know me as a DJ and wedding officiant—but something else I’m incredibly passionate about is helping couples prepare for the marriage that comes after the wedding day.

I just finished meeting with Brian and Julie at White Rhino Coffee in downtown Dallas for one of our premarital sessions, and this is honestly one of my favorite parts of what I get to do.

These conversations aren’t about pretending that I have everything figured out. They give me the opportunity to share some of the things I’ve learned over the years—including lessons learned through my own mistakes—and help couples begin having honest conversations about communication, conflict, expectations, finances, family, intimacy, and their future together.

I’m also a registered Twogether in Texas provider. Couples who complete the program can receive a discount on their marriage license.

I don’t just want to help couples have an unforgettable wedding day. I want to help them build a strong, healthy marriage and give them tools they can carry into the years ahead.

Your wedding is one day.

This weekend, I watched couples who have spent decades together still smiling, still laughing, still choosing each other. Then I watched grandparents dancing with their granddaughter.

Those moments remind me that weddings are about so much more than one day.

They’re about family.
They’re about legacy.
They’re about the stories we’re writing every single day.

In a world that constantly tells us to chase more, these moments remind me what actually matters.

I don’t just love playing music.
I love having a front-row seat to stories like these.

So here’s my reminder today…
Never stop dancing. Live! Laugh! Turn off the TV & soak up today.
