Welcome to the last Q&A for the summer! This next question was the only one we received, but we think it is quite relevant to the next stage of RV travel..."How do you see AI being part of an RVer's travel plans?"

We are deeply embedded in AI - Will is a senior AI developer, and Lucinda creates AI content for the travel industry. At this moment, we see AI as an active assistant. Here is how we use it in our RV plans:

- We feed our route into the AI along with our rig details and have it calculate optimal fuel stops and proper road access. We also have a diesel discount membership card, and that is part of the selection.
- We keep a list of unique types of events we like to participate in. At each new location, we enter this event list and find activities within a certain mile radius of us happening during our stay date range.
- We use AI to track our health on the road by creating and monitoring our own stats. AI created an 'app' for us based on our criteria, and our smart trackers communicate with the app to run the reports we request.
- We use AI for shopping. We find local ingredients in the area, nearby farmers markets, and recipes the area is known for. This keeps our shopping local, fresh, and always changing.

If you create prompts for each of these activities, all you need to do is plug the request into the AI each time with the new data and tweak it as you go. You will always have a personal assistant gathering relevant information for your travels.

Currently, you should verify all AI-provided information. We did have it 'make up' a gas station stop because there wasn't one where it thought we needed one. The station didn't even exist!

RV thought of the moment..."We don't want to manage a photo or video collection of what an RVer (traveler) will see. We want to share an environment where the traveler can encounter meaning. RV travel should be more about what you can leave behind (like stress) and what we can participate in that's authentic when we arrive."

Since we are full-time, we get this question so many times, and it tops our question list during Wide Open Wednesday - How do you not go crazy on the road in an RV all the time? Here are our top reasons we not only survive but relish the lifestyle:

1. Choose the right RV. Take your time to analyze what your lifestyle is before you RV, not what you dream you will 'make' it after you begin RVing. Most of your habits and likes will continue to be the same, so make sure your rig choice supports your style.

2. Take more time. We know RVers who rushed through every stay. Maybe only a few days to a week before they relocated. They rushed and had little time for relaxing and unstressed planning. There is no reason you need to hit every state park in one year or whatever arbitrary travel agenda you set before you begin RVing.

3. Take a deep breath. Before you begin and as you experience RV life, you need to understand that your home, your work, your entertainment access, and your privacy are all rolled up into one big RV. When it breaks down, EVERYTHING is disrupted. You have to learn how to function in one area while another is stalled.

4. You are not on vacation. A traveler paces themselves; a tourist does not. You are still living in your home, just with a different view. Take the time to create everyday memories, encounter meaning. Leave the urgency out of your RVing by NOT wearing yourself or your budget out.

5. Be prepared for change. You will change, people will change, scenery, expectations, your rig structure, and your lifestyle will all change. This is not a lifestyle for rigid choices, decisions, or living within the same rut. Every day will be an adventure, and you need to be prepared to live at that level of change.

Welcome to one of our top questions! "How do you decide where you are going next?" That is a good question, considering that when you are full-time in an RV, you can almost go anywhere you can drive!

Since we do have a big rig, we don't just drop in places along the road. We actually plan 2-3 months in advance where we will be and make reservations at campgrounds, BLM land, or friends' homes that can accommodate us.

Unlike in a stationary home, the list is limitless on what we want to see out of our RV windows. But here is how we decide where to go next:

1. We try to book being near family and friends for special events or activities.
2. We integrate stays for RV & Motorcycle events around the U.S.
3. We stay an entire month at one location to enjoy the area, friends, ride our motorcycles, and get work done, plus RV upkeep and the best campground rates.

There have been emergencies that have changed our trajectory, but being in the RV also makes it easier to adapt. We love the lifestyle and hope you are enjoying it, or get to enjoy it, too!

Top RV Question! When people find out we have been RVing full-time for nearly seven years, the first question we get is, "What was your favorite place to visit?" We used to say that was difficult because so many places have so much to offer. But over the years, there are places we have visited more than once across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. These are our personal preferences:

1. Visiting Family. We have never had as much freedom to stay and be with family as when we have been full-timing. This is probably our number one favorite place - with family & friends. That includes Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and North Carolina - because they are there. And we meet up with other RVers we have met all over the U.S.
2. On the Beach. There are so many places to camp on the beach. We have enjoyed places in Texas, Georgia, and Mexico. We have a big rig, but there are many places where the sand is firm enough you can pull right up to the water. It doesn't get better than that.
3. On BLM Land. This is Bureau of Land Management. Here you can boondock in wide-open spaces where the nearest rig or person is miles away. We have enjoyed those mostly in Arizona and New Mexico. The cost is zilch or minimal, and you feel like a pioneer (with today's amenities). It is always beautiful, peaceful, and star-gazing worthy.

Here is our July series! You caught a taste at the end of May, and here is full-on summer already. One of the questions we got the most is, "How do you stay cool in the rig during 100-degree weather?" We happen to be in Texas right now, and nothing is more necessary. Here are a few things we do:
1. Use the A/C overnight at colder temps. This gives you a head start in the AM on keeping the rig cool as it heats up outside PM.
2. Use fans! Fans help the rig feel like it's five degrees cooler inside.
3. Choose the right campground. Make sure you have 50amp to run an A/C. Only stay 1-3 weeks so electric is included. A/C in 100-degree heat can run you $2-300 a month, and it may not even keep the rig cold. Do they have a recreation room or pool you can cool off in?
4. Park correctly. If possible, choose a spot where the sun is not beating down on both sides of your rig all day. Angle your rig so it goes from one end to the other. Always get a shaded spot. That can keep your rig 10-15 degrees cooler too.
4. Plan errands or activities between 4-7pm. Leaving the rig and cooling off elsewhere is always an option! It is just fine enjoying someone else's A/C

As promised! Our first 'Wide Open Wednesday' post. We are a little ahead of summer but we know a lot of you are getting on the road and wanted to get a helpful hint out to you...

We usually stay for a month in a location and then travel on to the next. A month maximizes our local experience opportunities. But how do we find out what is going on in each new area? How do we find 'community'?

One of our top tools is to join a local Facebook group. How?
In the search bar in the top lefthand corner of your page, type in the city you are in. You will get a list of all types of groups. Look for ones that post about happenings in the area, things you like to do and join! You can also find local 'Events' too.

When you leave the area, you can unfollow, or you can stay with the group and keep memories alive or see what you may want to do the next time you are there.
