Have you heard of the whiskey Unlce Nearest? Nathan “Nearest” Green, a formerly enslaved man who is now recognized as the first known African American master distiller in the U.S.

Nearest Green taught a young Jack Daniel, who later founded the famous Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey brand, how to distill. In 2016, The New York Times published a story about the distiller’s “hidden ingredient” – “help from a slave.” It was finally acknowledged that an enslaved man, Nearest Green, taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey. ✊🏽🖤

So to honor Nathan “Nearest” Green and his premium whiskey, go grab a bottle and make a cocktail with us! ✨🥃

Uncle Nearest’ Old Fashioned
2 oz Uncle Nearest Whiskey
1 sugar cube (or 1/4 oz simple syrup)
2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
