The first question we always get asked: “How much do flowers cost?” To start off, here are some AVERAGE starting prices on a few items that may be requested. These are by no means a fixed number, but a general industry standard price point. Keep in mind that each wedding is different, and the overall investment will vary based on the design as well as several other factors.

Notable factors that determine price 👇

🌷 Quality and COGS: What product is being utilized in the composition? Carnations drastically vary in price compared to dahlias. When you receive a quote from multiple florists, some may be higher simply because of the quality and cost of the ingredients they plan to utilize.

🌷 Florist’s Level of Expertise: THIS MATTERS and definitely should be something you consider! There are so many things that can go wrong and variables in play. This is a one time shot. You want to rest easy on the big day knowing that you have a team of experts that will ensure your vision still comes to life no matter what happens!

🌷Artistry: Each designer has a different aesthetic and level of artistry that can be hard to evaluate. However, if you’re looking for something more intentional, unique, and artistic for your big day- that exclusivity and service does come with a price tag due to the above mentioned factors. Keep in mind how important this is to you when looking for vendors!

There is something incredibly therapeutic about arranging and placing blooms for flat lays. It forces you to slow down and shift your perspective to a 2 dimensional capacity and really focus in on those details. These feature my favorite blooms: hellebores, lilac, sweet peas, foxglove, fritillaria meleagris, and butterfly ranunculus. Swipe to the end to appreciate the checkered pattern on the frits!

Folks, I just opened a gallery from the incomparable , and I’m a blubbering mess. Every single photo is just pure GOLD and art, and I’m struggling because I want to share them ALL (and I will) 🤩. It is already a precious gift to be able to see my work through another artist’s eyes, but even more humbling and awe inspiring when the artistry of their talent augments the beauty of the stills and conveys volumes to the viewer in more ways than one. ✨Meraki ✨ A Greek word, it means essence of yourself; to do something with soul, creativity, or love; to leave something of yourself in what you do.
There is a feeling when you walk into a room and you see fresh flowers. That emotion you experience is a result of the multiple lives- the living essence of the blooms merged with everything we’ve put into it of ourselves- our joy, our hearts, our personalities. It is palpable, and it is felt.

Hello friends! I typically like to hide behind my flowers such as these massive alocasia leaves, but occasionally I come out to say hi! I’m Ummehani Karimjee (the UK of Beginnings). I’m from Mombasa, Kenya, but I’ve grown up in Houston, TX. I’m a little weird and laugh alone at my own jokes most times 🫠 I love flowers so much that I made a career out of them. Our style can be described as romantic, editorial, and elevated. Here are three random facts about me:

🌸 I have a thing for branches with curves. When I’m driving, I always want to pull over and cut all the sexy branches I see.

When talking to people about flowers, I hear people say phrases like “it must’ve come so easy to you…” Well…I want to break that myth. I love all things design and gravitate towards it, and I understand some concepts and principles, but I worked SO hard and practiced when it came to flowers. I had to train my hands to create that instinctive muscle memory, and refine my eye over the years to get to what we call the signature Beginnings style. I say this because in this age of things going viral, there is a pressure for overnight success. Some of you have been part of our journey and seen us slowly bloom, so I sincerely thank you for sticking along with me all this time. Your support means the world! A personal interpretation of Dutch Masters inspired arrangement. Words that come to mind when I think Dutch Masters are: shadows, lush, rich, movement, still-life, tulips, depth, wealth. This iconic era in art history came about when flowers were highly prized and valuable because they were difficult to attain, so it became a fashion, instead, to commission paintings of flowers so you could have them in your home. And that, to me, my dear friends, is the ultimate devotion to an object.

What a year! 2023 flew by, and I have no words but those of gratitude. We got a studio in February, and 10 months later I’m still telling myself and others: “we are settling in”. We didn’t fulfill all our goals for the year, but we did hit some unexpected ones instead. In full transparency, I feel like I’ve been running and running for the last few years and waiting for things to slow down so I can just breathe, but really, I realize I may just be a mild adrenaline ju**ie who thrives in chaos😅. In between events is the only time I really get to focus on creative research (a pretentious way of saying playing with flowers, but let’s go with research). This one was in anticipation for fall, and featuring some lovely produce: foxglove, snowberries, garden roses, aster matsumoto, blue vitex, astrantia, tulips, and plumosa- designed utilizing pin frogs and my favorite stone bud vases. What visual does this evoke for you?

They say conversation is good for the soul. I agree, albeit a slight distinction. GOOD conversation does wonders for the soul- which is why I talk to my flowers. It’s a perfectly symbiotic relationship: They dont judge me, but quietly accept me as I am, and I provide them with a flow of banter that can be classified as mildly entertaining, a heavy dash of neurotic, and most times just weird. It’s this charming environment I provide that encourages them to bloom so beautifully and lovingly for you ❤️

There’s nothing more fulfilling than an afternoon playing with gloves, pearls, vintage details, and of course- blooms. I can’t deny my inner, regency-era-obsessed self a chance to fawn over all this petal prettiness, and it seems only kind to share it with you too ❤️

Utilizing foliage in an arrangement to make it look natural is an a-r-t in itself. It’s easy to stuff greens in- but to make them look good? Whoooole different ball game, my friend. I’ll often spend more time choosing the greens than I will the blooms. Consider this image with flowering privet, eucalyptus gunnii, and mini Italian pittosporum. These are different foliage types with the correct blend of nuances in texture, color, movement, and shape. During placement, they need to be clustered together in the perfect position for a naturalistic balance, and to provide just the right amount of “oomph” to bring the eye towards the bloom. I think of them as my velvet pillows- you know the ones that carry the shiny tiara for display?? They are just as equally important. All hail the supporting stars.
