Congratulations to Peyton, Class of 2021!

Peyton and her mom, drove down from MD to shoot in the beautiful mountains of NC. We planned a sunrise to sunset shoot that covered 6 locations and roughly 200 miles. Each location was chosen based on who Peyton is, what she loves and enjoys, and who she plans to be in the future. It was an awesome day! Peyton is a true overcomer! Her shoot took us from the mountain summits she experienced as a child, down into the valleys. We ended up chasing the sun. The sun won; we ended up shooting her waterfall location in the dark! Always an adventure! Thank you Lisa and Peyton for a wonderful day!

Normally, this time of year I would be busy shooting high school senior portraits. There are ways I can pivot my business but the truth is I don't feel good as a human being, in asking hurting families, to consider spending their limited resources on photography. So I have decided not too. Instead, I want to offer drive-by senior portraits,
to my local community. For the next 2 weeks, I will come to your home and shoot, contactless portraits, of your senior from the street. These mini sessions will be at no cost. (Prints will be offered at 25% off) The only catch is that one portrait must include sign of hope -that you make - to lift up your fellow seniors. I was so excited to capture Alyssa's senior portraits! I met Alyssa several years ago when she was my photography student. The first time I photographed Alyssa was for pageant photos. I knew then that the camera loves her! Alyssa graduated at only 16 and is now preparing for college! I am super proud of her and have greatly enjoyed being a part of her journey! Building lasting relationships, capturing many of their special moments, and serving as a mentor for our teens, is what I truly love about my job! They are not just another senior portrait client; these kids become a part of my extended family!

Julia is a woman I admire on so many levels. She is a powerhouse attorney, global professor, political advocate, life long student, pilot, animal lover, and grand adventurer. Most importantly, she is a woman of great integrity, loyalty, love, and compassion. Capturing her headshots is a privilege; having her as my friend, is a treasure!

Our Senior adventures are very different from most because they are deeply relational and intended to reveal the truest essence of each individual and empower their gifts and strengths right before they step into the next chapter of their lives. It is an experience that includes loved ones and friends, passions, interests, and the things that make each senior uniquely them along with empowerment coaching! We only accept 4 Thematic Senior Clients per month because each session requires about 30-40 hours of time from the initial call to the close of the shoot.

There are many beautiful things I could tell you about who Erika is but in a world of crazy people, I feel the need to protect my seniors so just trust me when I say, that to know her is to know genuine beauty.

When I arrived in North Carolina 10 months ago, I didn't know a soul other than my Aunt and Uncle. I met Beth at a women's bible study. When she sat down across the table from me, she immediately opened her heart to me - making me feel welcomed. Since then, I had the pleasure of taking her son's senior portraits and getting to know her. She has been my constant friend without condition. I am immensely thankful for the friend she has been to me.

I captured a few photos of Beth yesterday. As I began to edit them, it dawned on me, the gift that she has been in my life, these past few months. Beth is 100% authentic! She treats everyone with the same measure of care and love, but most importantly she never fails in honoring her faith or values. She is an excuseless person, who overcomes adversity with class, grace, and dignity. I simply adore her!

My gift is seeing a person's soul. That gift allows me to see a person's true beauty from the inside out. I have a responsibility to be authentic, honor my values, and be a voice that empowers my clients. I could photoshop away her wrinkles, erase her perceived skin imperfections, make her hair perfect, even change the things she may not like about her body, but what message would I be sending to her in doing so? In a way, I would be communicating to her that she is not enough, exactly as she is. Beth is stunning from the inside out. She lives every day being the best version of herself. She is a fabulous mom, executive, daughter, sister, friend, and example of Christ's love! I will not be a photographer that diminishes her beauty, wisdom, or heart by altering the imperfections which time bestows upon us all.

For those reasons, please allow me to share my dear friend Beth with you, 100% as she is! The only alterations to these images are in the depth of color. For the most part, they are straight out of the camera! I have included 1 stylized image, that has been, photoshopped to soften time but not erase it. There is entirely too much disingenuous behavior in our world today! I will not diminish another woman by altering her reflection to the point of unrecognizable!

Announcement! Purgioia Images is now "Empower U Portraits!" I made the decision to re-brand my company because my purpose and direction have changed. Our new name represents the conversation we want to have with our clients - one that is focused on being Comfortable, Confident, Creative, and Inspiring! Empower U Portraits combines creative photography with empowerment coaching to help shift how our clients think and feel about their own reflection! We serve HS Seniors, Women, and Corporate Headshots (with a specific bent toward Cinematic Headshots)!
