🍱 Indonesian Nasi Bungkus (Street-Style Rice Box)– First Drop! 🇮🇩

Columbus — we’re launching our first Indonesian rice box pre-order!

A traditional, comforting meal from Java, made fresh and served warm at pick-up.

Only 30 boxes available for pre-order!

We’re Java Street Kitchen, a new Indonesian street food catering business bringing the flavors of Java to Columbus.

Each box includes:

✨ Nasi kuning – coconut turmeric rice cooked with lemongrass & spices, topped with fried shallots
✨ Ayam Kalasan OR tempe kering (vegetarian option) – sweet & savory braised then fried chicken or caramelized crispy tempeh.
✨ Telur balado – fried egg in a mildly spicy sambal
✨ Bakwan – crispy vegetable fritters
✨ Fresh cucumber & tomato slices
✨ Krupuk bawang – crispy garlic crackers
✨ House-made sambal bawang – fiery chili-shallot relish
✨ Pisang aroma (dessert!) – caramelized banana spring roll

🌱 Plant-based rice box available!
For our vegan friends, we'll swap the chicken and egg for tempeh and crispy golden fried tofu!

Java Street Kitchen will be at Global Gallery’s Friday Night Music Series Fundraiser tomorrow (4/17) from 5–8pm.

We’ll be serving Indonesian sweet treats, including:
• Pisang aroma (caramelized banana spring rolls)
• Bolu kukus (pandan & ube flavored steamed cupcakes)
• Kue nastar (pineapple tarts)

Pisang Aroma is a beloved Indonesian street snack made with sweet banana slices, lightly sprinkled with sugar, wrapped in a thin spring-roll pastry, and deep-fried until crisp, and caramelized.
The result is a warm, golden snack with a crunchy exterior and soft, naturally sweet filling — a classic treat commonly found at street markets and neighborhood food stalls across Indonesia.
Definitely a crowd favorite!
