I can't believe it has been a week since One Columbus Culture Day! There were such beautiful performances from various cultures, delicious food, and valuable community resources for all to enjoy. Our gracious host the North YMCA Columbus was the perfect space!

We experienced cultural performances from Haiti, the Congo, Mexico, China, Bhutanese Nepali, Nigeria, Eritrea, Algeria (Berber Culture), Ethiopia, and Djibouti - all in one place! We are so fortunate to have such a variety of cultures represented in our city. The support each group had for one another was so inspiring.

It was our pleasure to come alongside the City of Columbus Department of Neighborhoods Columbus for the second year in a row for this event that showcases the creativity and vibrancy of our residents. Congratulations Abdi Soofe, Lindora Diawara, and the NALA Committee on an amazing event. Can't wait to make this bigger and better next year!! ✨️💃🏾🕺🏽🍲🎶🇨🇬🇭🇹🇲🇽🇨🇳🇩🇿🇳🇵🇪🇹🇪🇷🇩🇯🇸🇴🇺🇲

Monday night was phenomenal!!! What an amazing evening to celebrate the next chapter of Dos Hermanos Taco Truck. ✨️ Lisa Gutierrez, the support in that room was a true reflection of all that you have given, and how you have supported the community. I am so glad community showed up for you!! I can't wait to see what comes next!

On Saturday we had the pleasure of coming alongside The Columbus (OH) Chapter and the Twin Rivers (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated for their Black Family Wellness Expo at the Linden Community Center! 💚

Attendees enjoyed free health resources and giveaways, fresh produce, cooking demos, wellness presentations, physical challenges, and chair massages. Not to mention free childcare, a complementary hot lunch, and the opportunity to donate blood to save lives!💪🏽

This was such a beautiful partnership and it was our honor to help this come to fruition for the third year in a row. Thank you to both Chapter Presidents Dr. Shari Hicks-Graham, Gayle Saunders and Health Facet Commitee Chairs and Members Dr. Mysheika Williams Roberts, Dr. Jordee Wells, Carolyn Francis, and Dr. Bonita Ward for the opportunity to assist!! ✨️

Rounded out Black History Month with a screening of Genius: MLK/X on Saturday in COSI - Center of Science and Industry's Giant Screen Theater! It was our pleasure to come alongside the Department of Neighborhoods Columbus for this special partnership. This series shows the early lives of Dr. King and Malcolm X and how their lived experiences led to who they became. It was a great depiction of how your life's circumstances can either make or break you, and how certain decisions can change the whole trajectory of your life.

Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of coming alongside Maurice Womack, creator of Boy Genius, for LEGO and Literacy! This was such a creative blend of fun and learning, while exposing kids to STEM concepts and the importance of a male presence in Pre-K classrooms.

The lineup of speakers was awesome and impactful! Commissioner Erica Crawley, Javier Sanchez, Ervan Rodgers II, Stanley Johnson, and Iddrisu Seidu really set the stage for a supportive environment.

The Whitehall Shine Bright Center was the perfect space for this! Thank you to Craig Fowlkes and Good Time Mascots for bringing this space to life, and special thanks to Chosen Few Vette Club, Donatos Pizza and Second & 7 for the LEGO kits, pizza and book donations!

Can't wait to do this again in the summer time. Thank you so much Maurice for the opportunity to support this effort!! You are really on to something great in bringing out the genius in our boys and girls. ✨️💡💪🏽😎📖

I love what I do!!! Supporting our clients brings us joy. What brings us EVEN MORE joy is when their events bring the community together to lift up our young people. The past Saturday, we had the pleasure of coming alongside the Department of Neighborhoods Columbus for the 25th Annual MLK Youth Oratorical Contest. This year's contestants were outstanding at usual...these kids are so inspiring, and I know they will go on to do great things.

Special thanks to moderators Sheri-Lynn Wynn and Vincent A. Hill, M.A., and to all the volunteer judges who had the hard job of deciding who will advance to the State Contest in April. During the awards ceremony, former CRC Director Jim Stowe - one of the original City of Columbus contest founders - provided us with some words of reflection and congratulations, J. Averi Frost gave us some insight into the State MLK Holiday Commission's efforts, and Cynthia Amoah graced us with an amazing poem to commemorate the day.

Thank you to Columbus State Community College for hosting us, Dos Hermanos Taco Truck for providing lunch, and Craig Fowlkes for providing us with a beautiful backdrop for the occasion!

I hope in the years to come, more parents, teachers and program coordinators get their youth involved in this contest! ✨️ Public speaking is a skill and an art that I think will have so much more value in the years ahead. Kudos to the Department for keeping this going, 25 years strong!!
