Teaching the youngest generation to stop and smell the ranunculus...Most ranunculus don't have a fragrance but the French "Ginette" does have a scent reminiscent of a rose. This little flower lover enjoys visiting her Nana during farm pop ups. Her Nana likes it even more!

What is the SAN JOAQUIN FLOWER COLLECTIVE?…We are a group of 8 local, like-minded flower farmers who came together in community to support one another in our shared mission to grow the best possible flowers/foliage, and make them readily available to our local, talented florists who help our Valley to celebrate life’s special events, cheer us up when needed and surround us with the beauty that is flowers. The platform that we are using to do this is called Rooted Farmers (Rooted Farmers]). Our Spring Launch which will be March 3rd, 2023. Florists can make a free account and then place orders from among the inventory of 8 farms for pick up at one central location in Fresno once a week on Thursdays. The platform has fotos, color searching and stem length. There is nothing like fresh, locally grown flowers. I encourage all local florists to set up an account this winter Rooted Farmers] for the San Joaquin Flower Collective. This way you will be ready March 3 and beyond for the blooms we are patiently growing for you, including, but not limited to: double, fragrant Daffs, specialty Ranunculus and Anemones (including Butterfly, Italian & French varieties), Alliums, Poppies (including Hummingbird), Delphiniums, Stock, Snaps, English Roses, double/fringed/parrot/French Tulips, Nigella, Iris (bearded and Dutch), Yarrows, Leucojeum, Sweet Peas, Bells of Ireland, Daucus, Ammi, Campanula, Larkspur, Aquilegia, Dianthus, Trachelium, Mint, Eucalyptus, Dill, Olive, Dusty Miller, Bupleurum, and more and these are just spring flowers! Florists, please also follow for more updates.

Just a 30-second video of some of the flowers coming to River Park Farmer’s Market () today. I’ll be there tonight from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. putting bouquets together and helping you put your own bouquet together! Yes, you get to select the flowers you want! Check out the white Canterbury Bells. These are cool season annuals that are fall planted in our climate zone, 9B. They did amazingly well this season and last so long in the vase. Message me if you want some but can’t get there tonight! I’ll have them at the market on Saturday, also.

Much to the dismay of the bees, it’s time to pull the poppies to make room for, I don’t know, maybe…sunflowers? More zinnias? Celosia, ageratum, amaranthus…so many choices.

So looking forward to Colibri Poppy season! Icelandic poppies do so well here in Zone 9B. This will be my first year growing these beautiful Italian Poppies and I can’t wait to see how they compare to my Champagne Bubbles Poppies❣️

There is something so elegant about anemones…and ranunculus aren’t too shabby either.
