Six years of building 🔨
What you see in this recap is the celebration. What you don’t always see are the months of teaching, training, rehearsals, planning, partnerships, artist support, meetings, problem solving, late nights, and year round programming that make moments like this possible.
This summer, so much of that work came together at THE FUNCTION, our culminating summer celebration on Cleveland’s lakefront.
A HUGE thank you to , Cleveland Foundation, The George Gund Foundation, The Banks-Baldwin Foundation, and our MAJOR private donor and sponsors for investing in 10K Movement year round and helping make ALL of the work possible. Your support reaches far beyond this one event. It helps us create education, performances, artist opportunities, battles, community programming, and spaces for Hip Hop and Street Dance culture throughout the entire year.
Most people only see the culmination, whether it’s The Function, Lords of the Land, SSDI, or another 10K event. But fr it’s always the ecosystem we have to see that it takes to get there.
Special S/O to North Coast Yard for giving The Function a home this summer and partnering with us to create something special on the lake. 💛
And THANK YOU to every dancer, competitor, DJ, artist, student, instructor, volunteer, vendor, partner, staff member, family member, longtime community member, and person who stepped into our world for the first time. You brought this thing to life.
Six years in and we still building.Still preserving.Still presenting.Still cultivating.
And BIG love Tae for capturing the energy, people, movement, and story of The Function from beginning to end.
Until next time.
