Dare Street Dahlias is an urban cut flower garden located in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood. We officially opened shop in September 2019

In the summer of 2018 we moved to a street formerly known as Dare Street and became obsessed with growing dahlias.

Happy Earth Day! 🌎✨
Thank you for making the conscious choice to buy locally and sustainably grown flowers. The ecological and environmental aspects of floriculture are always at the forefront of what I do. I started growing flowers to change my barren backyard into an ecosystem that would be filled with wildlife and pollinators. Watching butterflies, bees, praying mantis, lady bugs, and many more float around the yard has been one of the greatest joys of growing this plot of land. Thank you for being part of it!

This weekend Petals on the Porch will be on Sunday instead of Saturday. I’ll be attending a flower farming workshop several hours away on Saturday morning (YAY!) This weekend will be the last Petals on the Porch until the summer crop starts to bloom. See you Sunday! 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

This has been a crazy year. It began with excitement and anticipation, leapt into uncertainty and chaos, and I’ve been at a high 75+ on the stress radar most of the season. My full time position picked up with the pandemic at a time when it would typically have been an “easy” start to the season. However, with uncertainty the only thing to do is pivot and move forward.

Thank you to everyone! I truthfully couldn’t have done it without you. From the friends who planted seedlings into the ground with me, the one with the perfect penmanship that labeled all of my dahlia plants, the friends who sat out with a glass of wine chatting while I gardened, the customers who sent me endless encouraging messages about the beauty of my flowers, to the customers who discovered me for the first time and fell head over heels like I did when I first discovered dahlias, and everyone in between. In a world that seems dark and trying at times you have made my little slice of this earth so much brighter. But for now I need a break. I need to focus on myself and my family and I NEED to start to tuck my garden beds in for the long winter. As of today I will not be responding to messages for two weeks to give myself time relax and narrow in my focus. When I come back it will be with an announcement of what’s to come for fall.

In the meantime don’t forget to VOTE!!!

Petals on the Porch opens at 11am today! There is limited stock for the sale thanks for all of the wonderful ladies that placed special orders.
