So...this page has grown enough to get people talking. That's a good thing. However, this is an election year, and we're not stupid. Our communities continue to be gentrified, and we're getting mobilized to combat it. This is our place to begin making the changes we want to see.

This page will not be infiltrated by those who mean us no good and used as a weapon against . Period.

If you live in one of the traditionally Black neighborhoods in Clemson, we NEED to have YOU at this meeting! Please share this flyer and postwith as many people as possible. We will be speaking among ourselves first at 5:30 and then with the land developer 6:00 to express our concerns about the rezoning of the land at the corner of Abel Rd. and HWY 93.

Although this directly affects Abel, we need to get on one accord the way they did in Calhoun and learn how to continue to protect the remainder of the neighborhoods we have left. There are projects that WILL take place in all of our neighborhoods soon. I'm not saying that we can stop them, but WE DO HAVE THE POWER needed to influence what happens. We can't exercise that power until we start coming together, y'all. Tomorrow at 5:30 is where we start.

Although the Juneteenth Festival on campus was what it was, it's not too late to celebrate it well! Littlejohn Community Center is having its Festival right now until 9:00. Be sure to come out and support!

As we sit in the Hendrix Center on campus, we can't help but be disappointed in what the celebration of OUR FREEDOM has become in this city. We have been reduced to 3 rooms and the new gravel parking lot by the National Guard Armory. We don't know about y'all, but we believe that's a problem. It's all about controlling us, y'all. When we celebrated Juneteenth in Abel, the celebration was for US, by US. When are we going to get organized and unified to make our voices heard and create the the change we need in our neighborhoods? We need to start showing up in huge numbers at community and city meetings/events, especially meetings that will affect what happens to our children, our communities, our homes, and our money. With that being said, we look forward to seeing EVERYONE in our community, our neighborhoods- especially those near 93 (Abel, Vista, and Hawthorne)on Monday evening at 5:30. We need to get informed so we can start making moves, y'all. It's way past time to stop complaining and get to work!

If you live in or near Abel, make sure you come to City Hall tonight, 6/8, at 6 for the rezoning meeting. They want to put a CVS at the corner of Abel Rd. and 93 because of the new student housing complex being built at the Best Western. If they put a CVS in the neighborhood, traffic will be a mess and we won't be able to get out on the highway. We need to show up in numbers to speak up!!!
