Good Morning Tampa Bay! We were notified that a scammer is emailing food trucks and vendors pretending to represent our UTC Fall Festival. See the conversation below. I tried to fit it all on one screen.
Although we are accepting food vendors. This person is not with our company.
A couple tips to notice a scammer if you are new to the industry.
1. If it seems too good to be true, it likely is.
2. They are not emailing from our .com email domain.
3. They provided a Google Forms link to sign up and pay.
4. The times, pricing, and rules are not correct.
Some of these things may be hard to spot if you have never worked with us before or never met our team members.
If ever in doubt, please contact your promoter directly.
Our company personally never asks for payment via social media or ask for venmo, cash app or zelle payments. You have to sign up online and pay with your debit or credit card yourself with a receipt. So you know you can always get a refund or dispute a payment properly.
If ever in doubt, contact your promoter directly to confirm you are speaking to someone representing the event. If you've ever spoken to a Brandon Pells, you may have been scammed as well. Report this guy's emails to google.
Have a wonderful week! And stay vigilant.
