Grand Oriental Chinese Restaurant Chef’s Story

Executive Chef Bin Zheng hails from Fujian, China, a region famous for its rich culinary heritage.

Born into a family of chefs, he was immersed in the art of cooking from an early age, training under renowned masters. At just 18, he founded his own well-regarded restaurant in his hometown and quickly earned a reputation as a talented young chef. Recognized for his exceptional skills, Chef Zheng was invited to the United States at the age of 19, beginning what has now been a 35-year culinary journey abroad. After many ups and downs, he eventually made Cincinnati, Ohio his home. Today, Chef Zheng and his team proudly operate three beloved Chinese restaurants in the area — China Food, Sichuan Chili, and Grand Oriental Restaurant. Mastering multiple Chinese regional cuisines, Chef Zheng is dedicated to recreating the authentic flavors of home for the Chinese community in America. At the same time, his years of experience have given him deep insight into American-style Chinese cuisine, inspiring him to create dishes that beautifully blend tradition and innovation.
