17 years ago today I photographed my first wedding as Becky Brown Photography.
After that first wedding I never dreamed that I’d be in Chicago doing what I love for a living. Or that I would have started another brand that would forever change the course of my career. Or that I would start doing dog photography ( ) and have my photos on billboards across the city!
There have definitely been ups and downs along the way but I wouldn’t change it for anything.
My “boss” gave me the night off to celebrate :) to next 17! (Jk i doubt I’ll be able to last that long physically, but a girl can dream).

2 weeks until wedding season kicks into full gear (for me at least). But it was a joy spending the day with Edina and Manfred last week after their city hall wedding! I always love motion photos that show how alive the city is!

Happy 1 year Anniversary to Michelle and Chris! Their intimate wedding was perfection. We had a gorgeous Chicago day so we opted to walk to their venue, taking photos along the way. The tulips on Michigan Ave were blooming and the city felt alive. They say I do at ‘s in front of their families and enjoyed a delicious meal together. From the Moment I met Lynne and Eric via Zoom I knew their wedding day was going to be a blast. An intimate group that was ready to party! They wanted the focus of the day to be on having fun with the people they love and they definitely succeeded. According to my inbox of inquires it’s proposal season! Traditionally so many proposals happen over the holidays but I’ve always been a fan of breaking away from the norm and it seems more people are making that shift too. Why not propose on a date that has more meaning to you as a couple? Or a new date that will now have its own meaning bc it’s your proposal date. Or picking a favorite spot that only makes sense in a certain season.

Calling all engaged couples!! Join me tomorrow at the Show Some Love wedding show. I gave up on big wedding shows years ago as they give me the ick and feel very forced. But I make an exception for this one because it’s the opposite. It’s small and intimate and only has local vendors. No big box wedding companies. Just real people running small businesses that want to help your vision come alive.

And it’s at my favorite intimate wedding venue in the city - ! As you can see from these photo I’ve done several weddings there over the years. It’s gorgeous, the staff is the best and the food is amazing.
You can still buy tickets online (check the link on the bdp Instagram) and they are also available at the door.

The majority of my team will also be there! So come by and say hi!

When there is a heat wave (aka it was barely above freezing) on the day you get married but the river is still frozen it makes for some really unique photo ops! I had a blast photographing these high school sweethearts This weekend as they said I do in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their families.
