DJ Bashert currently has a monthly world-beat event, Dance Local, Think Global, at Martyrs and regular DJ at The Redline Tap, The Bottom Lounge, Smartbar, Double Door, and The Old Town School of Folk Music.

Our Story

DJ Bashert started DJing 80’s New Wave, goth, and industrial music in clubs around San Francisco’s, in the late 1990’s. In early 2000 he moved to Chicago where he continued to DJ in clubs like NEO, Smartbar, Redno5, The Abbey, Smartbar, Morseland, The Empty Bottle, and the Underground Lounge. He developed a love for world music, punk, classic country, Motown, and ska among others. He started opening for bands as diverse as Television, Dehli 2 Dublin, Fishbone Balkan Beat Box, , and Rebirth Brass Band. He has DJd at The Glenwood Art Fest, Celebrate India, CIMM Fest, and Chicago World Music Fest, and Converegence.He has spun at Mehanata and Meridian 23 in NYC. Now a resident of New Orleans he has DJd the Rock and Roll Marathon for three years running and as part of The Krewe of King Arthur. He can be found at Siberia, Cafe Instanbul, The Goat, Hi-Ho Lounge, and Santos among others spinning anything from Balkan Beats to New Wave to Motown.

For over 20 years DJ Bashert has been bringing his love of music to clubs, movie studios, art galleries, festivals, weddings, and events from coast to coast.
