An agressive headline by Wyoming Public Radio & Media “Open Spaces” segment about “Beyond Sand Creek” and Fort Chambers where 100 militiamen were trained to kill at the Sand Creek Massacre. The fort is located on city of Boulder open space.

On November 29, 1864, Colorado’s third cavalry descended on a village of Cheyenne and Arapaho, mostly women, children and elders. The massacre that ensued is often considered one of the worst in U.S. history. Colorado Gov. Hickenlooper has apologized for the massacre, but the Northern Arapaho trib...

It's Alan, the page administrator. I've been holed up during COVID-isolation in front of my computer screen editing movies and writing, including self-publishing a book that's now out there in the cyberspace market place. The story is memoir in part about some of my time in Wyoming and my writing path that took me to the Wyoming Writers, Inc. conference and my first book deal. With few distractions, I also made a couple documentaries and finishing a couple due at the end of the year.

We're onto a new Northern Arapaho project about Fort Chambers near Boulder where soldiers trained before their deployment to the Sand Creek Massacre.

BCM partnered with the Reality Garage and Boulder High School and developed a Virtual Reality curriculum. We're onto a new project building a VR version of the Fort Chambers site where the 3rd Volunteer Cavalry trained near Boulder. The soldiers went on to kill Arapaho and Cheyenne men, women, and children at the Sand Creek Massacre. https://bouldercomedia.wordpress.com/2019/08/28/bcm-bhs-vr-project/

We received a grant and now raising some matching funds - a few bucks from a whole bunch of people! Anyone who contributes will be credited in the documentary. In 1864 a guy named David Nichols recruited 100 Boulder volunteer militiamen who were trained at Fort Chambers just east of Boulder to kill Indians at Sand Creek. Flash forward to 2018 when the city of Boulder purchased the Fort Chambers site as open space. What if a group of concerned citizens were successful in getting that land repatriated, in some form back to the Arapaho people?

We need to raise $2000 to match the grant and want a few bucks from many supporters. Everyone who contributes any amount will be credited in the film. Beyond Wind River: The Arapaho and Fort Chambers documentary was funded by the Boulder Arts Commission last night. This is a story about Fort Chambers near Boulder, Colorado that was the training ground for 100 volunteer militiamen who went to Sand Creek to kill Indians in 1864. Flash forward to 2018, the same property was recently purchased by the city of Boulder for open space. What if the community worked together to repatriate that land, in some form, back to the Arapaho people? Many thanks to the BAC!

A few years ago WCM made a documentary commemorating the 75th anniversary of Wyoming State Parks. One of the stops was the Piedmont Charcoal Kilns State Historic Site. July 4th marked the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad completion. There's a story as to why it's July 4th and it's because of a train hijacking in Piedmont.

July 4th marked the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad completion. There's a story as to why it's July 4th. By Piedmont near Fort Bridger, 300 disgruntled UP workers due $200,000 in back pay stopped the train of Union Pacific Vice President Durant enroute to Promontory Point. Durant was kidnapped until the money arrived. Golden spike ceremony delayed 3 days while money is wired.

Have a great 4th of July. This is a flag in Carter, Wyoming.

Fear for the security of America landed over 110,000 Japanese-Americans in internment camps during WWII, and this haunting home footage from The Pacific War in Color reveals just how much it disrupted family life.
