Thank you to everyone who came out to the 757 Battle of the Beers on September 12th! 🍻

We had an awesome time and truly appreciate everyone who stopped by, checked out Shepherd’s Tap, grabbed a drink, or just came over to say hello.

It was a great day with an incredible crowd, and we’re grateful we got to be a part of it!

The Battle of the Beers
In the summer of 1776, the American colonies had finally had enough.
For years, the British dogs had ruled the taverns, taxed the ale, and demanded that every good pup bow to the Crown. But across the colonies, a different kind of pack was forming.
German Shepherds stood guard. Labradors hauled supplies. Hounds carried messages through the night. Bulldogs manned the cannons. And wherever the American dogs gathered, barrels of cold b**r were never far behind.
When the British fleet appeared off the coast, the American dogs were waiting.
Their commander, General Shepherd, stood at the bow of his ship wearing his finest blue coat and weathered tricorn hat. He looked across the water at the British dogs approaching through the smoke.
He raised his mug.
“Dogs of America,” he growled, “today we fight for liberty, our land…and the right to drink our b**r without the King taking a piece of it!”
The deck erupted in barking.
Cannons thundered.
Fun Fact: George Washington was a major dog lover and kept a large pack of hunting hounds at Mount Vernon. He personally checked on his kennels every morning and evening and even helped develop the dogs that eventually became the American Foxhound. https://www.mountvernon.org/library/digitalhistory/digital-encyclopedia/article/dogs?utm

Today we’re honored to be part of the celebration with the United States Coast Guard community in Elizabeth City!

As a veteran-owned business, it means a lot to have Shepherd’s Tap included in today’s event. Coast Guard Base Elizabeth City is home to one of the Coast Guard’s largest aviation and logistics hubs, supporting search and rescue, disaster response, maritime security, and missions that protect our nation’s waterways every day.

To all the active-duty members, reservists, civilians, retirees, and families—thank you for your dedication and service. We hope everyone has a great time celebrating together.

We’re proud to have Shepherd’s Tap on site and look forward to serving the Coast Guard community today.

Max said it’s hot, and when he turns 21 in dog years, he’s grabbing himself a cold drink after helping with cleanup! 🐾
