Hey y'all,
My goal with Gemini Events is and always has been to create events that bring vendors success. When I started Gemini Events years ago, I was set on having 1 or 2 large markets a year in hopes to bring something new and exciting to this area. After the success of those markets I met very eager vendors wanting more markets, to which I did my best as securing a secondary venue for winter, fall and spring markets. While we had success in those first couple of years, in the last few years I have come across many obstacles. So here is where I get very real and honest about what has been going on behind the scenes.
With this being a very rural area, not only am I limited on venues, I am limited on dates for shows that do not interfere with long standing events, fundraisers, galas, festivals, auctions, weddings. When there are multiple large events in a small area the pool of attendees becomes very stretched thin. I have also been getting push back from group admins on advertising in my local groups, as they see me as advertising my business too much and they no longer want my business advertising.
The community has spoken through various conversations of feedback. I have been told that many stopped coming because the parking lot was always too full and they didn't want to wait in the road to park, they said it's always the same vendors, or they simply don't want to attend a show every single month. In the last year I have tried to bring in new fresh vendors and added things such as mobile bars, but it's just not working as I thought it would.
Running events all on my own each month is also wearing me down, with 4 kids in sports and with my community volunteer obligations such as holding board positions in two different sport leagues. I just can't keep fighting an uphill battle.
I simply can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results.
I have chosen to stop running my smaller monthly markets at Jester Auto Museum and will only be focusing on my larger events for next year. I feel as though if I go back to running fewer markets, it will just be better all around.
I want my vendors to be successful. Period.
I can't thank you all enough for being a part of my events over the last 6 years. I'm sorry if some feel disappointed, in a way I am too. It's a bittersweet thing. It's a pivot in a new direction to keep things going.
I'm wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Years.
Love
Ashley
