Weddings bring together all of the things in life that I adore the most, and I believe that your wedding is the perfect opportunity to celebrate your love and the legacy, traditions, beauty, and joy that make up your life. Wedding planning can be a stressful and overwhelming process, and I want to take all of the worry and stress off of you so that you and your groom can fully enjoy your engagement and joyfully prepare for your marriage. Give me all the happy, vibrant colors, please! This leafy green velvet linen was the perfect backdrop for some of Margaret & Donald’s guest dinner tables (I almost always use three linens in a reception design for a multitude of reasons!), and the bold golden yellow patterned china, textured white linen napkins, gold flatware, wildflower menus & place cards, colorful taper candles, and lush, color-blocked rainbow of Springtime blooms made for a gorgeous reception, if I do say so myself! There was so much laughter, heartfelt conversation, joy, and new memories made around these dinner tables, all accompanied by a delicious meal. What an unforgettable celebration!

What an extraordinary day it was as we celebrated RuthAnne & Chase! From the vibrant Springtime color palette of sunset hues to the lush & romantic florals to the personalized, fun, & thoughtful details and design to the heartfelt & happy & sentimental moments, it was an unforgettable day of celebration!

Their joy, love, & excitement were so apparent all day long, and it was just magical to witness!!

What a fun, beautiful, & productive day it’s been in Atlantic Beach for Marie & Jock doing lots of wedding planning & designing!! It has been a full & fun day meeting at their beautiful church & doing some ceremony planning, walking through the venues & spaces with their vendor & rental teams, finalizing layouts & linens & rentals, and then their catering tasting at Coral Bay Club - yum!! The countdown is on for Marie & Jock’s wedding, and it’s going to be unbelievably heartfelt, meaningful, beautiful, & FUN!!

I cannot wait to be back at this gorgeous church in Morehead City tomorrow for a site visit & walk-through with one of my couples... which, of course, brings me back to this incredibly beautiful day as Lindsay and Christian were married! Their entire ceremony was filled with unbridled anticipation, unparalleled joy, giddy excitement, heartfelt moments, family traditions, and simply overflowing with love. What an unforgettable day this was celebrating a couple very near & dear to my heart as they were married!!

My heart for strong marriages runs deep, and marriage is a definite pillar of — and always has been. As much as I adore weddings & my job as a wedding planner, I know that there is so much more than just this one day. Marriage is what matters. A lifetime of love (messy, joyful, challenging, deep, & full of grace!) is what the focus truly is and should be. I want my couples, my friends, and my husband & myself to have marriages so much more beautiful than our wedding days. I want engagements to be filled with marriage planning and big dreams and deep conversations — not just wedding planning. I want you to know that there is so much more to come after your wedding day! That’s why I do the work that I do: so that my couples can focus more on their upcoming marriage than just on wedding planning. So that their engagement season is joy-filled and not stress-filled. So that I get to see huge, genuine smiles like this on their wedding day!

Carolina reunion weekend fun!!! These girlfriends have been my best friends since our freshman year at UNC back in 2005, and we’ve been together through it all over the last 21 years (how??) — more than half of our lives!

You know I had to go all out with custom themed swag, surprises, decor, & games!! I made a “She’s Not Here” logo (as a nod to the iconic He’s Not Here, of course!) for our personalized blue cups & hats, made tote bags & signage encapsulating our 20+ years of friendship, and we’ll enjoy Jeopardy & trivia later!!

As all devoted Emma M. Lion admirers know… welcome to our Thursdays. Welcome to St. Crispians! Welcome to Lapis Lazuli! You are invited to join in the alchemy…

We set out to recreate the wonderful, whimsical world of our beloved heroine, Emma M. Lion, with a circa-1883 costumed tea party that would make Agnes - or Aunt Eugenia? - proud!

A tea party fit for all those who love both Lapis Lazuli & Stonecrop alike, with sweets that would make Jack proud and nibbles that Emma herself would devour and bites that fine Agnes would concoct — all with a dashing portrait of the Duke of Islington — daisy-adorned! — in the kitchen, of course!

Join the Janes! In honor of our intrepid female readers who came before us, we all signed a copy of the beloved Jane Eyre.

Stop into The Dalliance! We raffled off a special book in honor of our favorite fictional shop.

Which gentleman holds the key to Emma’s heart?! We voted on who may ultimately win Emma’s heart, a topic of much heated debate! Might it be Pierce? Or Islington? Mighty Nigel Hawkes? We shall see (with great anticipation!)…

Welcome to The Cleopatra, even if you are a lady! We, of course, served the sludgy drink Emma first imbibed… and a much more delicious cocktail, The Emma: a paloma, which is a smidge sassy & sweet, like our beloved heroine.

Who would best be cast as a character in The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion movie?! We voted on the perfect star to bring to life these charming characters.

You know no tea party could happen without a little friendly trivia and conversation cards a lot all things Emma M. Lion — especially since we all dressed up as a character from the books, as well!

Quotes from the books, a map of St. Crispians, books from Emma’s personal library, and roses from the Reprobates rounded out our tea party.

There was, of course, a candle lit in the window.
