Wedding planning can be a stressful and overwhelming process, and I want to take all of the worry and stress off of you so that you and your groom can fully enjoy your engagement and joyfully prepare for your marriage. My expertise, logistical planning, and creative eye for design will allow you and your family to enjoy the wedding planning process, and I hope to gain the privilege of planning and designing your wedding! New on Substack: an ode to the orange marmalade cake!

After years on my life bucket list, I finally baked the orange marmalade cake, infamous in the Mitford series by Jan Karon! Affectionately abbreviated “the OMC,” this iconic tiered confection appears in every Mitford book throughout the fifteen book series, touted and raved about by every fictional character who is fortunate enough to have a slice.

For years and years, I’ve had “bake a Mitford orange marmalade cake” on my life bucket list — a very obscure but very special endeavor. After all this time, I got to cross this off my list, as I finally baked the signature orange marmalade cake from scratch for my articles club girls, since a few of us are devoted Mitford readers! This was a very special baking project near and dear to my heart, and I’m so glad I can finally say that I’ve gotten to bake — and eat! — this hallmark Mitford cake and share it with some of my dearest friends.

Happy, happy 45th anniversary to my incredible parents!!! Forty five years! Their marriage and obvious love for one another (and everyone around them) is deeply inspiring and beautiful, and they have given us such a strong example to look up to and learn from. Their steadfast commitment, perspective and outlook on life, penchant for laughter and humor, wisdom and patience, constant support and encouragement, and unconditional love are simply incredible.

My mom and dad are high school sweethearts, went to college together, were married weeks after graduation, became the world’s best parents (truly) a few years later, now have the world’s cutest grandsons, and are now celebrating their forty-fifth anniversary with a whole lot of beautiful life lived and shared together - and so much more to come. We are so, so, so grateful for our family and for these two who cultivated so much love.

Marriage, while it can have harder moments or seasons, is simply the best, and we admire theirs a ton! And witnessing my mom and dad’s legacy in their strong marriage is the heartbeat behind why I love weddings so much. They’re the start of a lifetime commitment, unconditional love, and world-changing marriages!

Seriously, aren’t they the cutest?! Love you forever, Mom and Dad! Congrats on FORTY FIVE years, and thanks for being such a beautiful inspiration for all of us!!
