LATE POST:
Grateful for yesterday’s word, coming from the book of John, the 17th chapter. Reading the words that Jesus spoke, let us as believers be reminded that we are in this world, but not of this world. Let us not be overly concerned with the things of this world, but let us prioritize being one with Him and our responsibility to point souls toward Heaven.
Recently, the church has been championed by the world as a result of Bishop Budde’s plea to President Donald Trump; likening her plea for mercy to the heart of Christ. Be not deceived! Jesus is merciful, indeed, but in every instance in the Bible where Jesus showed mercy he instructed them to go and SIN NO MORE!! We all benefit from God’s mercy, but we bear the responsibility of coming to repentance in return. We can’t continue to live in sin and wickedness and expect God’s mercy to cover us. John 17:12 cautions us that there is point where mercy runs out and we fall subject to eternal damnation. How special are we, as believers, that Jesus prays for us (John 17:9)? It’s important to note, however, that as merciful as Jesus is, He doesn’t pray for the world. So, if the world approves the church, you can be sure the church is in trouble!
Lastly, let us remember to keep our focus on God! There has been a lot of conversation about President Trump’s executive orders concerning DEI and Civil Rights. Understand that as believers we are affected by the policies and laws of the world. But Jesus’ prayer isn’t that we’re removed from the world, but that we don’t fall into evil (John 17:15)! Standing on our faith and honoring our relationship with God sometimes comes at a price. But just like God kept Daniel, the three Hebrew boys and so many others, He will keep and protect us. In the end God will get the glory! So, let us not be so concerned with our employment that we neglect our assignment! And let us not be so concerned with our jobs that we neglect our work!
