Choosing a bo***ir photographer has less to do with the camera than with whether you feel safe enough to relax in front of it.

The women who leave my studio happiest are almost never the ones who walked in confident. They're the ones who asked good questions first — who's in the room, where the images live, how much direction they'll get. Once that's settled, the shoulders drop and the real expression finally shows up. That's the frame I'm always waiting on.

Picking a bo***ir photographer around Columbia has almost nothing to do with who owns the nicest camera.

It's about who makes the room feel safe, who tells you the truth when something isn't working, and who hands back images you actually recognize as yourself. Look at whether the same woman appears confident in their work or just well-lit. Ask how your photos get stored and who ever gets to see them — ask that before you ask about gear. The answer tells you most of what you need to know about the person behind it.

The pieces that photograph best are almost never the ones people expect.

Lace reads beautifully on camera. So does a plain white button-down, or a sheet and a bare shoulder. What fights me is anything stiff, over-structured, or brand new and still creased from the package. Fit beats price every single time — if it sits right on you, it sits right in the frame. I'd rather shoot something you already love than something you bought last week because it looked expensive.

Nobody walks in knowing how to pose. Not one person, ever.

I've shot a lot of these sessions and not a single client has arrived with a plan for what to do with her hands. That's fine — it's my job, not hers. I tell you where your weight goes, where your chin sits, when to breathe. You follow. Somewhere around the twenty-minute mark you stop thinking about it entirely, and that's where the real frames come from.

Almost everyone walks into a bo***ir session convinced they're going to be bad at it. Nobody's ever been bad at it.

Here's how the two hours actually go: hair and makeup first, which is when most people stop white-knuckling it. Then we start easy — sitting, leaning, hands. I direct every pose, so you're never standing there wondering what to do with your arms. Somewhere around the halfway mark almost everyone forgets the camera is there. That's when the frames get good.

Nobody ages out of feeling good in their own skin.

Some of the strongest bo***ir sessions I've photographed were with women in their 40s, 50s, and beyond. They walk in knowing who they are, and the camera catches that confidence every time. Youth was never the requirement — showing up as yourself is.

Some of my bo***ir clients want one thing more than anything else: for these photos to never touch the internet.

That's exactly how I run it. Private, password-protected galleries, no public posting without your sign-off, and no exceptions. What happens with your images after the shoot is entirely up to you.

Most people overpack for bo***ir. Then they wear the first thing they tried on.

Here's what I actually see work behind the camera: two or three pieces you already feel good in, something with a little structure, and a robe or an oversized shirt for the in-between shots. The rest stays in the bag. The women who bring less almost always settle in faster — fewer decisions, more time just being present.
