Headlining tonight at The Elms at Castine is the amazing Barbara Kay Cooper, sharing some of the songs she wrote as a young girl living in Hawaii. She will be playing her Martin ukulele, pictured here, that she received for her 14th birthday. Opening for Barbara is the Dysfunctionals, a local group consisting of Carolyn Brouillard, Laurie Flood, and The Elms own Justin Cooper. It’s going to be an exciting night!

Saturday Night Swing Jazz at The Elms

Join us on Saturday, April 15th for a special performance by New Shades of Blue as we honor and commemorate the 111th anniversary of the RMS Titanic sinking with cool swing jazz!

Please see www.eventbrite.com for tickets for this special performance and commemoration of a uniquely Castine connection! Classy attire encouraged.

Did you know… The Eustis family were the second owners of this beautiful home starting in 1900 and were the ones who modified the original Victorian design by adding the west wing and the iconic porte-cochere, and also changing the exterior to the current shingle and stone appearance.

Among the Eustis’ children were two daughters, Elizabeth and Martha, who were first class passengers in cabin D20 on the RMS Titanic and survived the terrifying ordeal in lifeboat #4! Elizabeth later wrote a detailed account of whole experience. Check here for more: Elizabeth Eustis

Don’t go down with the ship and come swing with us like it is 1912!
