This reception introduction was full of excitement and dancing - the guests LOVED IT!!
But what if you don’t want a crazy, loud reception intro? Let’s talk about it!
First, let’s talk parents. Here are your options:
1. Don’t introduce them, let them sit at their tables and enjoy!
2. Introduce them from their seats, they can stand & wave and get some recognition!
3. Have them dance in before the bridal party and then sit in their seats
My tip? If you don’t totally care, ask them what they’d feel most comfortable doing! This is such a minimal part of your day, I always recommending just asking your parents what they’d prefer!
Next… the bridal party - this all depends on the overall vibe of the groomsmen and bridesmaids, here are your options:
1. Traditional route, they can come dancing in as pairs (this works great if you have a lot of couples in your bridal party)
a. They can all dance to the same song
b. Each pair can dance to a different song, this only works well, though, if they can choose their own songs and have time to prep a fun little dance each - ALSO, communicate this we’ll with your DJ
2. Bridesmaids dance in together and then groomsmen dance in together (my personal favorite)
The best, is to let the girls and guys choose their own songs and have the guest cheer for their favorite! (Winners get to be first in the buffet line). Also, this works great if you don’t have an even number on each side.
3. If you prefer a chill route and/or your bridal party doesn’t love the attention- just opt out of doing the big intros
Instead… have a fun song that the bride and groom walk in to, then have the DJ blend it into your first dance song!
My opinion: it’s your wedding, do what works for you guys! Who cares what tradition is for intros, it’s your day! Recently I had a couple welcome their guests into the reception, and it was the sweetest time!
I’ll be honest, though, I love a good introduction when all of the bridal party gets into it and can welcome in the couple with the guests on their feet!
