RE-ENTRIFICATION is a spoken word documentary that tells the story of residents that have been displaced from their homes due to the city's high cost of living. Tiny homes became a sanctuary where families can have the fundamental human right of a home. This film tells their story on how they made the decision to seek this type of support. Re-Entrification sheds light on the housing crisis in the Bay Area.

explains that Re-Entrification means being able to move back into communities and neighborhoods that a person is originally from. It’s the way to bring back its history, beauty, struggle, pain - the soul. Re-Entrification is to create and reclaim sustainable economic structures that allow people living in the neighborhoods to thrive within their own neighborhood; to recapture the native essence of that place.

This showcase of Brisbane’s diverse artists and provides an opportunity for our community to follow the rich diversity and depth of talent in our town. It encourages an exchange of ideas about art and fosters new relationships and creative collaborations.

Today’s Chamber Mixer took place along Brisbane’s downtown drag, where the community officially welcomed Lyrical Opposition to town! Lyrical Opposition is a California 501(c)3, working to oppose injustice through lyrical arts such as spoken word, poetry, and rap. Cross Allan and Fego Navarro (shown here in the studio portion of their space on Visitacion) may be familiar faces and names, as they both shared films during this year’s Artists’ Evening of Sharing. Welcome to Brisbane, LO! 🤍

SPOKEN WORD

Poet and motivational speaker Jermaine Hughes does a spoken word piece on listening to God. Jermaine is part of Lyrical Opposition, a missional community that focuses on impacting the world one lyric at a time through spoken word, music, and poetry.

Throughout his career as a poet he has performed at schools, community centers and churches alike to speak to issues such as police brutality, gentrification, human trafficking, struggles with sin personally and recovery through his poetry. He has a unique perspective on life that both electrifies and informs the crowd, while providing plenty of food for thought.

We encourage you to take a listen and share this powerful piece!
Hi Everyone!
I am a part of a Christian Ministry here in Sacramento and I wanted to reach out and see if anyone is interested in doing Virtual Bible Studies with accountability and practicals? or Need a prayer buddy?

I know times have been difficult and it can be hard to have hope. For me, being a part of my ministry, has helped me to heal and grow with my relationship with God! I love my support system (spiritual family). We have a lot of virtual things going on during the quarantine!

Feel free to message and let’s connect ❤

P.S. Definitely miss going you ya'lls events! They were always dope!
