If your wedding officiant could replace your names with another couple's and the ceremony would still workâŚit isn't really personalized.
A personalized wedding ceremony doesn't need to be longer or filled with every detail of your relationship.
It means that when the people who love you hear your ceremony, they recognize you in it.
Your relationship.
Your values.
Your personalities.
Your humor.
Your beliefs.
The commitment you're making to each other.
...and sometimes the most meaningful wedding ceremony ideas are incredibly simple.
A reading that actually means something to you.
A small story that makes everyone laugh because it's unmistakably you.
A moment honoring someone who couldn't be there.
A spiritual tradition that's important to you.
Maybe you want to intentionally leaving OUT a tradition because it doesn't represent your relationship.
Whether you're planning a traditional, non-religious wedding ceremony, spiritual wedding ceremony or something entirely your own, personalization shouldn't feel like something being performed at you.
It should feel like the ceremony belongs to you.
When I'm creating a ceremony, one of the best reactions I can hear afterward isn't:
âThat was such a beautiful script.â
It's:
âThat was SO them.â
That's what a personalized wedding ceremony should do.
So while you're saving wedding ceremony ideas, don't only ask:
âIs this beautiful?â
Ask:
âDoes this actually feel like us?â đ
