History In The Making Special Events

History In The Making Special Events Thanks for stopping by! My name is Tina--I'm a dog mom, craft addict, novice explorer, and event coo We believe in love.

Pure, simple, beautiful, chaotic, authentic, unbelievable love. We love working with couples who think a planner is out of their budget. Couples that want a professional by their side. Couples that DIY everything, or are maybe dreaming of the unconventional. But mostly, couples that are undeniably in love.

Wow, what a summer it's been!
It kicked off in June with the wedding of an amazing couple and has been on a roll since. Our team has coordinated multiple weddings, and I've planned and executed several events in between at the retirement community where I work.
As the Life Enrichment Director, I'm in charge of the activities and events for about 130 residents (and their families) and we had a summer full of fun stuff! Our biggest events, which were also open to the public, included a western BBQ, our annual classic car show, a tropical dinner party & dance, and of course Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, and the 4th of July. This is all in addition to the day-to-day happenings and smaller activities, events, and happy hours.
Oh, and I managed to throw my 39th birthday party in there, too. And 2x a week dance rehearsals. And a trip to Vegas to see the Backstreet Boys opening weekend at the Sphere.
It's been a lot, but it's been good.
As August comes to a close, I thought I'd share a few highlights from the summer festivities, starting at our most recent wedding, an intimate, remote wedding in Columbia Falls, and looking back over the past few months.
We've got one more wedding on the books for the year, but things aren't slowing down! At my day job, I'm also planning a sock hop in September, then all of the craziness that comes with the last 3 months of the year (in-house MSU pep rally, fall festival, Halloween, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, our annual tree lighting ceremony, resident & family holiday party, Christmas, New Year's.......)
Summer is peak season for wedding planners, fall into winter is most definitely peak season for activity directors.
I'll sleep in January. It's fine πŸ˜‚..

My name is Tina, and I'm the owner of History in the Making. It's been a while since I've introduced myself, so here's a few fun facts about me:
πŸ”ΉοΈ I share this tidbit a lot, but in addition to being a wedding planner, I also work full time as the Life Enrichment Director at a local assisted living community. It's an awesome job, but also the reason why my business "office hours" are so strange.
πŸ”ΉοΈ I had my first "real" vacation last October. My boyfriend and I spent 2 days in Miami and went on a cruise to the Bahamas. I was seasick the 1st night but otherwise absolutely loved the experience! We're going on another cruise in September 🚒
πŸ”ΉοΈ ,aka Mr. Worldwide, is my hypeman! Anytime I need to get ready or energized, he's the first artist I put on. He's on the top of my concert bucket list, but since I haven't gotten to see him live yet, his mural in Little Havana will have to do πŸ˜†
πŸ”ΉοΈ Speaking of concerts, the absolute BEST day of my entire life was getting to meet and see the live (on my birthday!) in 2022. Every time I relive the memory I still have a small, internal freak out 🫠
πŸ”ΉοΈ I love to dance and have been involved in several professional shows over the past few years. Some highlights include 2 duets with my best friend and performing my first solo in a Halloween themed burlesque show πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈ
If you made it this far, thanks! 🀣 I'd love to learn a fun fact about you.

2024 is a big year--it's the 10 year anniversary of History in the Making! When I decided to make the change from hobby to business, I had no idea where this journey would take me.
I'm not a wedding planner full time, and my life looks drastically different from a decade ago,
but I still very much call this company and business my passion project!
To celebrate a decade of "big days" I'll be sharing flashbacks from weddings over the years, launching a new website, and starting a "confessions of a wedding planner" series where I'll share real life stories of things we've dealt with as coordinators on wedding days (and maybe even a few not-so-fun stories about why some of the clauses in my contract now exist) so be on the lookout for some fun, new content.
Have ideas for things you'd like to see or questions about our experiences/business/wedding planning, etc? Be sure to share them in the comments!

I've been a wedding planner for a while now, and there a few things I can admit I'm not great at. The biggest one is social media! The secret of consistent content creation eludes me. Also, I can't spell hors d'oeuvre or boutonnierre without spell check. And ever since I watched a caterer almost lose her eye to a rouge cork, I'm terrified of poppin' bottles, so I gladly pass that task on to a bartender, catering manager, or best man.
What I AM great at is being your eyes and ears on your wedding day so you can relax. We know how hard you've worked to plan your day, and we're your biggest ally in making sure it all comes together. I'm also pretty dang good at thinking on my feet and keeping my cool in most crisis situations.
I'm not afraid to work long hours--often my team and I are the first ones in the venue and the last ones out, and some days that means 16+ hours (not including drive time) We're really passionate about we do and we bring that energy with us to every wedding day we're a part of.
So, despite the lack of online presence, we are still here, still taking clients, and look forward to whatever 2024 and beyond will bring!

Hey y'all πŸ‘‹ It's been a while...
2020 may have been a no-go for weddings, however I sure stayed plenty busy working at a senior living facility where I'm the full time activity director. If I'm being honest, I absolutely love my job, but senior care in the time of Covid was completely exhausting, both mentally and physically. I also spent a lot of time with my oldest nephew, who was sick with a terminal brain disease...but I'll share more about that later.
Needless to say, I disappeared from social media because, life. But History in the Making is still here, holding strong, and looking forward to a great 2021 wedding season with some awesome couples.
Now that we're 5 months in, how's your 2021 going?

Do you ever wake up feeling inspired?
As a creative, I often have moments where I'm hit with an idea at the most random moments of the day and until I communicate it and get it out thoroughly on paper, my mind will almost obsess over it. I've literally had project ideas and aspirations keep me up at night. Now I know why the best artists are a little cooky πŸ˜†
Thankfully that wasn't the case this morning. I slept well, slept in, but almost instantly upon waking up, I felt inspired. I love this city I live in. I love this little business that fills a place in my soul. I love the senior citizens I get to hang out with all day. I appreciate all of us "essential workers" that have been pushing aside the fear and anxiety of going to work to continue providing. And knowing so many of my friends are laid off and unsure of the future, I respect the journey that has been so uniquely different for each person navigating this pandemic.
So I want to give back in a meaningful way, and I have an idea. I'm not ready to share it yet, but soon.
What has been inspiring you over the past few months?

Not to brag, but we've been loving and planning intimate weddings long before Covid-19 πŸ’β€β™€οΈ
Whether you've always dreamed of a small wedding or this dang virus is making you change your plans, our team is here for you! We get it, these are crazy times we're living in, and our passion is making the process as fun and easy as possible. If you choose to elope or have an intimate (sometime referred to as micro) wedding, rest assured that your day will be completely tailored to you: your style, your dreams, your budget.
We work with the best vendors in a variety of price ranges, can offer suggestions for both free and paid ceremony/venue locations, and offer all-inclusive packages with payment plan options. What's the benefit for you? You don't have to call around for quotes or keep track of multiple deposits and payment schedules.
Another fun fact, elopements can often be planned with as little as a 24 hour notice. Intimate weddings (20 guests or less) can be planned in a week. So you don't have to be in a hurry, but if you are, we can make it happen!
