Wow, what a summer it's been!
It kicked off in June with the wedding of an amazing couple and has been on a roll since. Our team has coordinated multiple weddings, and I've planned and executed several events in between at the retirement community where I work.
As the Life Enrichment Director, I'm in charge of the activities and events for about 130 residents (and their families) and we had a summer full of fun stuff! Our biggest events, which were also open to the public, included a western BBQ, our annual classic car show, a tropical dinner party & dance, and of course Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, and the 4th of July. This is all in addition to the day-to-day happenings and smaller activities, events, and happy hours.
Oh, and I managed to throw my 39th birthday party in there, too. And 2x a week dance rehearsals. And a trip to Vegas to see the Backstreet Boys opening weekend at the Sphere.
It's been a lot, but it's been good.
As August comes to a close, I thought I'd share a few highlights from the summer festivities, starting at our most recent wedding, an intimate, remote wedding in Columbia Falls, and looking back over the past few months.
We've got one more wedding on the books for the year, but things aren't slowing down! At my day job, I'm also planning a sock hop in September, then all of the craziness that comes with the last 3 months of the year (in-house MSU pep rally, fall festival, Halloween, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, our annual tree lighting ceremony, resident & family holiday party, Christmas, New Year's.......)
Summer is peak season for wedding planners, fall into winter is most definitely peak season for activity directors.
I'll sleep in January. It's fine π..
