Good morning flower friends!!
Dahlia #25 is STUNNING in shape & color.
This is Fidalgo Knight
This dahlia was originally hybridized about 40 years ago in Fidalgo Island, WA by a man named Richard Matthies.
This dahlia has a decorative shape that grows between 5”-6” wide!!
The color is amazing - Midnight crimson red mixed with dark chocolate. At least that’s what I see when I look at this beauty. Moody & mysterious!
The dahlia grow a little over 4’ tall

This is my favorite, the very first Dahlia I ever grew.

Happy Friday flower friends!
Dahlia #23 is a classic, it’s Cafe au Lait

The shape of these blooms is unique!. It’s described as a full rounded decorative shape with slightly wavy petals.
Most of the time the color is a creamy ivory, but I’ve also seen ivory with a touch of blush pink. On very rare occasions I’ve seen a complete blush pink bloom.
All of them are stunning!

Dahlia #22 always makes me smile.😊
This is Kelsey Sunshine & she’s been in my collection for the last 5 years. She’s an early bloomer that grows 5’ tall.
My only challenge is she does not produce a lot of tubers.

Love this purple!!

Let’s support our dahlias as they grow!

Dahlias get big & some blooms make the plants very top heavy (especially when it rains) which makes them vulnerable to falling over if we get strong winds.

I strongly recommend supporting your dahlias as they grow. I do this 2 ways:
1- Corralling is when you use stakes (metal or wood - your choice) & jute twine. You install your stakes securely in the ground & then tie one end of the twine to a stake at the 3’ level. Walk the twine around the stakes to completely enclose your dahlias & double tie the twine to the last stake.
I also install another level of twine at the 4’ level. This works best for me in my flower farm with long rows of dahlias planted together.
2- I use tomato stakes in my personal landscape garden since my dahlias are planted sporadically. Simply choose a tomato stake that fits the height your dahlia will grow. The larger the dahlia, the taller the tomato stake needs to be.

Support your dahlias NOW before they get to big & fall over! If you have your dahlias growing in large pots you can use either method.
If you choose wooden stakes & twine use a minimum of 3 stakes to create a circle of twine completely around your dahlia.

Want to help your dahlias bloom MORE??
If we remove the lower leaves OFF the stems at the base of the plant, it provides more oxygen flow around the plant. When that happens our dahlias grow more stems, buds, & BLOOMS 🌸

Good Morning!
Spartan Red is our 20th blooming dahia 😍
He looks like the darkest red velvet crimson. His petals in this video aren’t even completely open yet.
Stunning shape & color!
With these larger size blooms, it takes almost a full two weeks for the flower to fully open. It’s an amazing process to observe.
He would not be my first choice if I wanted to make a bouquet that was to last a full seven days
However, if there was a special event that needed a wow showcase Dahlia he’s the one!

Dahlia #19 is KA Keltie Rose
She is perfect in so many ways!
Perfectly pink 3” wide bloom that holds its shape for longer than most dahlias in arrangements.
I think this is the most prolific bloomer in my collection until we get a really hard frost.
As the nights get cooler., her pink color, softens, and becomes lighter.

I’m so excited it’s Dahlia season!! 🤩
I’m loving the pictures people are sending me of the dahlias they are growing.!!

I have a lot of new flower friends that are growing Dahlias for the first time. 💗This!!
So I thought I would provide some helpful tips to growing your dahlias. 

Here’s the dahlia tip of the day
Let’s talk about dead heading or removing the dahlia blooms that are done & why it’s so important.
1 - removing dead blooms promotes MORE dahlias to grow!!
2 -you can cut the blooms to create a bouquet for yourself or someone special OR you can let your dahlia bloom in your garden & cut it or dead head it off the stem after it’s done blooming.

Dead head or remove old blooms at least once a week & your dahlia will continue grow more stems & provide you with more BLOOMS!!! 😊🌸
