Every event starts with a vision. This one happened to be two very different visions. Our client’s husband dreamed of hosting a traditional Beefsteak. a casual, communal feast centered around abundant sliced beef, simple sides, and lively conversation, while his wife envisioned something beautiful and elevated. Our job was to bring those two visions together, creating an evening that honored the tradition while feeling unmistakably La Maison Fête.

The evening began with custom beer steins and aprons waiting for every guest before platters of beef were paraded through the tables to the Star Wars theme performed by The Storytellers Band | NYC Wedding/Party Band . It was equal parts theatrical and unforgettable. Jason Ungar created an incredible menu, Nichole Wilder brought the tables to life with vibrant summer florals, and beneath each guest’s plate was a custom song sheet so everyone could join in on the Beefsteak tradition.

Sometimes our favorite events are the ones that challenge us the most. Finding a way to honor his vision while creating something she loved is exactly why we do what we do.

For years, Brett and I have talked about expanding La Maison Fête into retreats, creating the same experiences we love to host, just over a few days instead of a single evening.

Inspired by the artwork of the book’s cover, birds appeared throughout the table in thoughtful ways from hand-folded paper details to custom cookies and matchbooks. For years, we’ve loved sharing Sofie von Oertzen Williamson’s beautiful collection at La Maison Fête, and we’re thrilled to welcome her to the shop next Tuesday, June 9th at 6 PM.

Known for her fearless use of pattern, color, and collected interiors and recently featured on , Sofie will join us to discuss her new book, The Art of the Clash.

She’ll be joined by one of her clients to share the story behind a stunning New Canaan estate featured in the book, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process from concept to completion.

An inspiring evening of design, storytelling, and beautiful spaces. We hope you’ll join us. Tickets available online your ticket cost includes your book for signing!
