Over twenty years ago now, a man from Alabama with a funny country accent entered my life and taught me some very valuable lessons about this crazy life. He taught me forgiveness. He taught me strength. He taught me grit. He taught me how to fight hard for life. He taught me that you can love big and create deep ties, and even family, with people who do not share your own blood. But most of all, he taught me what true love is. This man was my bonus dad, Mr. Mike Hodge. I will never, ever question where I stood with him because he told me every single chance he had.
Today, on his birthday, I challenge you with something I’m dubbing “SHORE DO” DAY. Sometimes he would just say...”Shore do” - meaning, “I sure do love you”. It is our duty as humans to love people. So today, April 15th - go do just that! Go love someone. Pay it forward. Help a stranger. Just go do something good for someone else. Show the world that you “SHORE DO”! 💙⚓️
