Figured I'd jump on here and give a little rundown of things from the last few weeks, so please read the entire post.
I will preface this by saying, it's a very sad world we live in when someone's word means absolutely nothing anymore.
Months ago, I met with the New Owner of a certain establishment that overlooks bay st/the water. Basically, I was promised the world as far as the restaurant/culinary field goes.
I was brought on as the new General Manager, and was originally told I'd have a lot of oversight and responsibilities(you know, everything a GM should do)..was told I could help curate a new menu, was promised that I would have my own branded meal prep in the grab and go cooler, was told I'd earn a percentage of any events and caterings I'd bring in, and also be able to use the kitchen to scale up my own catering/meal prep business.
Also, my kids have been coming to work with me for their entire lives, they love it. They think it's fun helping and talking to customers, was also promised they could come to work as long as they behave.
Well, December 19th comes around, the start of their Christmas break, it's a half day, I obviously had to leave to go pick them up early, and 100% intended on coming back to finish the work day. Well....that's when 💩💩 hit the fan. Both Owners looked me dead in the eye and said:
"Your kids are not welcome to come to work with you"
I was shocked...devastated..and realized how none of the promises and business ideas that were promised were going to happen.
There's also been a mass exodus of staff that has been there for many years due to the new ownership and their new business model, it's very sad and unfortunate. This establishment has been a staple of Beaufort for a very long time, and I was realllllly excited to bring some fresh ideas to the place while keeping the local favorites
So yah, it's "back to the drawing board" after that circus. I'm working on some things at the moment, that I will keep quiet until I know it's 100%
