Hey. Ladybug here.
When winter comes, I don’t disappear.
I hide.
Under leaf piles.
Inside bark cracks.
Behind garden debris you’re told to “clean up.”
That “mess” you leave behind?
It’s my winter shelter.
If you rake everything bare, I freeze.
If you spray “just in case,” I never wake up.
And when spring arrives without me?
Aphids explode.
Your roses suffer.
The balance breaks.
What you did right this winter:
• You left leaves where they fell
• You didn’t spray pesticides
• You waited until spring to clean
• You trusted nature to rest
Because of that, I survived.
And when the first warm days return,
I’ll be back on your roses — quietly protecting them again.
Winter isn’t empty.
It’s preparation.
Thank you for letting me sleep.

Leave the leaves.
Protect the helpers.
Spring depends on winter kindness.
