TEN years ago today, I was on my first international tour, headed to Toronto to perform at events in Canadian Music Week - specifically carrying the Baltimore Club Music banner as a part of events in the festival highlighting the path of Harriet Tubman's Underground Railroad.
Ten years. I am grateful, humbled, and in awe at my journey since then and what I've been able to accomplish. And proud!
I've played many places since (I haven't left the country again, though, I'm working on that - pay for my passport, I accidentally let it expire), curated many a shindig, taught MANY a DJ, created the FIRST podcast-content focused specifically on Baltimore Club Music Culture 6 years ago that lolll planted the seed for SO many of those types of pgrms you see today, became a producer and put out a few projects, got that production officially signed and placed in the VisitBaltimore campaign you see goin on, impacted public policy, and even helped make a holiday.
Just because I love music, a 4/4 count (we can do the weird ones too i guess), and crowd control. And I believe music will save us all.
And I am nowhere near done. Culture over Clout.
Thank you for dancing with me! I really mean it.
One decade ago, I was on a plane.
