The United States first research university, Johns Hopkins University, was founded in 1876 in Baltimore by philanthropist and entrepreneur John Hopkins

Philanthropy was and is a huge part of Baltimore’s story. Most of the food handed out to the homeless is produced from philanthropic efforts by citizens who are stepping up to the plate (pun intended). Many of these organizations rely on volunteers to assist in handing out and prepping food. Taking a few hours out of your day to help others not only feels good, but unifies us as a whole. Consider signing up for one of the organizations attached to this post!

COLOR STOMP originated from a vision of creating a better Baltimore. There are a number of companies that pursue humanitarian efforts and even more that pursue event production. However, a company that did both in conjunction with one another was a rarity. We believe that a unified community can take on any task put in their forefront, and what better way to bring people together while addressing matters at hand than hosting fun events and parties that spark curiosity about our city's welfare?

We've got a lot of work ahead of us but with YOUR support we're one person stronger and that truly makes a difference.

Did you know that the Baltimore Museum of Art has more than 1,200 Matisse pieces? That's more than any other public institution on the planet. Highlights include “Blue Nude” and “Large Reclining Nude.” While at the museum, you can check out other masterpieces from Picasso, Monet, Degas, and Gaugi.

Much like Matisse’s artwork we’re going to need some abstract ideas to shape this city to its full potential. However, until then there are hundreds of ways you can make Baltimore better as an individual. Whether that be picking up litter from the ground, donating canned goods to the soup kitchen, volunteering, giving away your old clothes to the homeless shelter, etc. YOU can make a difference with just two hands and a heart.

Fun fact: Snowballs (known elsewhere as snow cones), Baltimore’s favorite summer treat, were invented in Baltimore during the Industrial Revolution.

Not-so-fun fact: One in four people in Baltimore city are food insecure.

One way you can help is to volunteer at a food bank! There are multiple programs in place throughout the city to help feed those in need, and they’re always looking for helping hands!

Fun fact: Fort McHenry is the birthplace of the American national anthem, written by Francis Scott Key during the War of 1812, when the Fort was defending the Baltimore harbor.

Not-so-fun fact: About 1,597 people experience homelessness in Baltimore city on a given night.
