Ayotochtli… the humble armadillo a sign of fertility and an abundance of crops and good food… and Cempōhualxōchitl… the Beautiful marigold, used as a path for spirits to return home and be with their families. Together for me they represent finding your way back to the old ways of the hospitality world, that being making tamales with your family, eating a bowl of pozole during Christmas time, passing out etzalli during the rainy season or enjoying Acorn stew during the sunrise dance.
When a people forget their recipes they lose their connection to their family.
