Okay 2026/2027 brides, I’m curious 👀💍

What part of your wedding day are you MOST nervous about?

So…when SHOULD you start first-dance lessons? 👀💍

The answer depends on the kind of first dance you’re envisioning, your comfort level and how much choreography you want.

But one thing I don’t recommend?

Wedding couples 💍 here’s one first-dance tip I wish more people knew:

You do NOT have to use your entire song

If the song you love is 4+ minutes long, shortening it can actually make your first dance feel more intentional and keep the moment from feeling like it’s dragging.

And if you’re worried because neither of you are dancers, you don’t need a complicated routine either. Sometimes a few simple turns, a dip and learning how to move comfortably together is MORE than enough. 🤍

Your first dance doesn’t have to be complicated to be memorable. 💍

Some of my favorite couples start lessons saying:

“We’re not dancers.”
“We just don’t want to look awkward.”
“Please don’t make us do anything crazy.” 😂

And that’s completely okay.

Your choreography should fit you — your comfort level, your song, your personalities and the kind of moment you want to have together.

Wedding planning tip from a first-dance choreographer💍:

Your first dance doesn’t need to use the entire song.

In fact, shortening your song can make the moment feel more intentional and keep your guests engaged.

Most couples only get one first dance, so it’s completely normal to feel nervous.
