If you're planning a wedding near the Georgia line, Oakhurst in West Point should be on your list.

Everything happens on one property. There are spaces for both of you to get ready, a dedicated ceremony spot out by the pond, and a large indoor reception area with a stone fireplace for when the dancing starts. You're not loading up cars and driving across town between the ceremony and reception. It all flows.

And the grounds give you so much to work with. The pond, the garden paths, the covered bridge. Jamie and Wilson's May wedding here gave us all of it.

It's about 20 minutes from LaGrange, 30 from Columbus, and 40 from Auburn. Worth the drive.

Her girls all in different dresses, every one of them landing somewhere in the same purple and blue range. Lined up in front of the chapel at Children's Harbor? Pulled together, without a hint of uniform.

So if bridesmaid dresses are stressing you out, here's the move. Pick your palette, give everyone a lane to shop in, and let them find something they'll actually feel good in. The portrait still reads intentional, and nobody's fighting a dress they hate all night.

This is the kind of photo someone pulls out in thirty years.

Not the perfectly lit portrait. Not the wide shot of the ceremony. The one with mom in the room before the day fully started.

Olivia and her mom at Oakfuskee Conservation Center in LaGrange, GA.

If you're building your wedding day timeline, protect this window. Don't pack the morning. Give yourself some unhurried time with the woman who raised you. You'll want that moment back later.

Here's a tip that makes your wedding morning so much smoother: pull all your details together in one spot the night before. The invitation, rings, jewelry, perfume, vows book, anything you want photographed.

Getting-ready mornings get busy fast, and having it all in one place means it's easy to grab and hand off instead of digging for an earring while your hair's half done. This is what that looks like.

One year ago today. Ashley and Christian said their vows at Chapel on the Water, and I got to be there for it. That moss hanging over the water, that soft evening light. It was a good day! Happy first anniversary, you two!

The best bridal portrait isn't always in the getting ready room.

That space is usually beautiful chaos. Bridesmaids, moms, hair and makeup, the dress, suitcases, the snacks no one ate. Perfect for documenting the morning. Not always great for a portrait.

Jourdan's bridal suite at The Chapel at the Waters (just outside Montgomery) had that energy. A few minutes before the ceremony, we stepped into the main chapel. Clean walls, soft window light, room to breathe.

If you're planning your wedding, don't assume your bridal portrait has to happen where you got dressed. Trust your photographer to find the spot with the best light, even if it means walking somewhere else.

It rained on Mary Catherine and Dylan’s wedding day. But Truitt Vanderbilt was the perfect backdrop for the sweetest moments of their day. The rain may have rearranged photo plans, but the gorgeous venue more than made up for it!

These two got ready at Truitt Vanderbilt and married just down the road at Delavant in LaGrange, GA.

Their first look on the porch was quiet, followed by private vows between just the two of them. This wasn’t just *a* moment for them, it was THE moment. I couldn’t hear what was being said, but as the minutes ticked by, I realized they had so much to say to each other about their love.

A few favorites: Mary Catherine lacing up her bridal Nikes (gotta love a practical shoe!), a bridal party where every bridesmaid picked her own color and style (with bouquets to match), and a pair of the sweetest flower girls I’ve ever seen.

Relaxed, joyful, so good from start to finish.

The most emotional engagement photos don't come from poses.

They come from what happens after the pose. After the camera stops feeling like a camera. After you stop checking how you look and just look at each other.

Caitlyn and Parker at Kiesel Park in Auburn. This was one of those moments.

If you're nervous about your engagement session, you don't need to practice angles or memorize poses. Show up, sit close, and let your photographer do the watching. The rest will happen.

There's something about this chapel at Children's Harbor that makes every frame feel a little quieter. The veil caught the wind at just the right moment, and the gray sky kept the light soft all afternoon. Not a bad way to spend a wedding day.
