There’s a level of growth where “I can handle it” starts costing you way more than you realize.
And whew, I’ve seen this one up close 😮💨
The business is making money.
The team is growing, and your clients are getting results.
From the outside, there’s plenty of evidence that things are working.
Meanwhile, the leader is still carrying the business around in her head.
She’s answering questions the team should already know the answer to. She's rebuilding pieces of the launch every single time. And somehow, even with a team, she still can’t fully step away.
That’s the part I pay attention to.
Because I’ve worked inside businesses doing multiple seven figures, and revenue can cover up A LOT of operational problems.
You can absolutely grow while your backend is messy.
You can also reach a point where that mess starts collecting interest.
More clients means more places for things to fall through.
More team members means more people who need clarity to do their jobs well.
And every launch puts more pressure on systems that were probably being held together by the leader in the first place.
So when I talk about building systems, I’m thinking beyond a pretty ClickUp board or a bunch of automations.
I’m thinking about whether the business can actually carry some weight.
Can your team move when you’re unavailable?
Can a lead make it through your process without you remembering to follow up?
Can you launch again without rebuilding the entire thing from memory?
Can you take a Monday morning off and trust that the business still knows what to do?
THAT is the kind of peace I want founders to have.
And if you’re reading this thinking, “Okay Janee, but how do I know what’s actually shaky?” 👀
