This past weekend we attended a wedding showcase at a great venue in our area. If you’ve never been to one… Wedding showcases are exactly what you imagine - a bunch of tables, a bunch of vendors, and couples walking around everywhere. One by one they approach a table and the first question everyone typically asks them is “do you have a date set?” Quite often and not the answer is no, and it typically stirs up a little bit of anxiety in the couple. Then, most vendors go into their 30 Second Elevator Pitch and of course couples can feel that you’ve repeated this same things 25 times already… and yes, sometimes we do that too… but we are very relational based here at Honeycomb Films so we are a little bit different than the norm.
This past weekend, we received the best compliment I think I have ever received: When walking away from a conversation with us, a future groom turned back around and came back to us and said “thank you for being so personable.”
To others that might not be much of a compliment… But him taking the time to turn back around and say that to me seriously made my day. If not my entire month.
With this business, I strive to be personable. It’s the perfect word to describe what I strive for.. but that I feel like I’ve kind of forgotten along the way. My goal is to always really get to know our couples - to ask the questions that are important to them not the questions that everyone else is just asking for the heck of it. I want to be able to laugh with them, to get to know that they love a romantic feel with energy… Exactly who we are and their vision. With my whole heart, I want to give them a wedding experience they deserve.
So thank you to that man who turned back around and gave us that sweet compliment… It’s exactly what we needed in this season of busy and stress… and a sweet little reminder of who we are and why we’re doing what we do.
