People often ask, what does a wedding day look like for a wedding coordinator, or why do I need a coordinator? So yesterday I tried to take a little behind the scene footage of what all goes into the day of a wedding that most people don’t see.
Your coordinator is one of the first vendors on site, so they walk into a blank slate and know they are standing in the midst of the calm before the storm.
We greet the bride and make sure hair and makeup are on schedule and then jump into the setup. This may involve setting tables, linens, decor, etc. All of these items need to be discussed with your planner prior to the day so there are no questions of what is and isn’t included in your planning package.
We also take care of our couples by ensuring they have food throughout their day. So most days there is at least 1 if not 2 food deliveries that we help set up and make sure our couples eat. The day gets busy and believe it or not you may forget to eat.
Sometimes items are broken and need some help to make it through the day. Nothing our emergency kit can’t handle.
We may help with cake service, repurposing florals from ceremony to reception, queuing the DJ, organizing the bridal party for photos, pinning boutonnières, liasing with the florist and caterer, and so many other tasks to make sure that your day runs smoothly.
In the middle of all of this chaos we get to hold your train and usher you and your bridal party down the aisle and witness your love story on display.
The timeline? Well that’s pretty much in our memory by your wedding day and we keep things moving and flowing organically but on schedule.
At the end of the evening we load your belongings into the getaway car and sneak you some sweet treats for the hotel. And we may box up items that your parents will need to take home as well.
Our goal is to provide a seamless wedding day and ensure that you, your spouse, your mom, and your girls all get to enjoy the day together. Being a witness to the joining of two lives is the icing on the cake!
