Host Spotlight: Meet the Masterminds
Meet Your Host
Jessica
Q: What was the first mystery or true crime story that truly hooked you and made you want to start 'Clue & Conspiracy Co.'?
A: "A few years ago, I planned a murder mystery date night for my husband and me. It was the perfect "middle ground" for us, blending my obsession with true crime with his passion for role-playing games. We spent the night dressed up and completely lost in the investigation, and that’s when the "spark" hit me. I realized I didn't just want to play these mysteries; I wanted to create them. That’s why I started hosting: to bring that same excitement, connection, and immersive magic to all of you!”
Q: Do you prefer a mystery where the 'villain' is obvious, or do you like those morally grey characters where everyone has a secret?
A: "Morally grey, 100%. With my background in psychology, I’ve always been fascinated by how complex we are as human beings. I love a mystery where you have to peel back the layers of a character’s personality to find the truth. It makes the 'reveal' so much more satisfying when you realize everyone was hiding something."
Q: As someone from the Ashland area, why did you feel this community was the perfect place for a murder mystery revival?
A: "I’m always on the lookout for a good mystery event myself! While we see them pop up occasionally, I felt like our area was missing a consistent home for this kind of intrigue. I believe Ashland is a community that thrives when we have unique ways to come together, and there’s no better icebreaker than a shared crime to solve!"
Q: What is it about a live, 'in-person' mystery that beats just listening to a podcast or watching a movie?
A: "It’s the interactive storytelling. When you’re watching a movie, the ending is set. But in a live event, you can really go anywhere with your character! I love watching how different people bring their roles to life—it creates a completely unique experience every single time. You aren’t just hearing a story; you’re building it with us."
