I dreaded walking through the garden on this overcast day, and unfortunately, my fears were justified. The number of new varieties that had to be pulled was both astonishing and heartbreaking. I've never experienced anything like this before. It's incredibly discouraging, and I can't help but wonder how this is sustainable in the long run.

I keep seeing comments suggesting this is the fault of newer growers, but I've spoken with plenty of longtime growers who are dismissive of concerns about viruses. This isn't a problem that's limited to one group. In fact, my sister said last night "hey, about one of your tubers..."

I have no answers, so I retreated to my happy place—the seedling beds—where everything is fresh, full of promise, and GREEN. Here is a collarette seedling of unknown origin. It was either a rogue tuber from last years' seedlings that never bloomed, or a new seedling that self-seeded. My friend Emily said it looks like raspberry lemonade so that is what we will call it for now 😋

More sweet peas, and I have no idea which variety because the birds used my seed trays as a buffet and knocked the tags out.

I love love love the pastels. I kept the empty seed packets so I will try to figure out what this is.
