The need and desire to create seems to compete with just being at peace in a place sometimes. Something I struggle with whenever I travel. Even for vacation it is hard for my mind to settle.

With everything this year has brought, I’m grateful for having it bring me back to shooting film. Shooting film is not for everyone. There is so much that can go wrong, but what it offers in exchange for the uncertainty is truly beyond words. Just looking at these film scans, I’m really in awe of how they turned out.
With a recent announcement by Fuji to stop producing one of my favorite film stocks (of which these were shot on) I’m both saddened (mostly because I was totally going to order more just a few weeks ago) but also unfazed.
I know I’m more than my film stock. I’m more than my camera. I’m more than the tools I wield. My couples and clients know this and don’t work with me because I have a certain piece of equipment. They work with me because they see my value. Working in such a subjective field it can be tough to feel worthy. This time of year takes a toll on my self worth. It takes a lot of pushes in the right direction to not just want to walk away from a craft I love.
What does keep me going are the people that believe in me. That remind me of my value, and I’m so grateful to have them in my life. This one pictured here is one of them, and she’s a constant source of inspiration (not to mention she’ll put on a pretty dress and deal with me taking a bunch of pictures of her when it’s cold and windy). Thanks for keeping me around :D

Hi there, I haven’t really ever done a #fridayintroduction so here are a bunch of facts about me you may not know. I’ve been practicing yoga for a little over a year now, and getting stronger and more connected with my mind and body each time I’m on my mat. I love coffee, and hanging out in coffee shops. My clothes generally have the faint odor of roasted coffee to give you an idea. I have 2 young boys that are the world to me! They keep me young and make me feel old all at once, and I love every moment I get to spend with them. I own a small business doing photography, video, animation, and even design work! I have a little tortie cat named Lily that will sleep on your head purring and whine if you don’t pay attention to her, but respects my dying house plants so I can’t blame her for them dying. Music plays a huge role in my mental state, and I need to see live music at least once a month or I get grumpy. I love to travel and see new places and explore. Probably the farthest I’ve been from home is Africa, and have a deep desire to travel to Iceland and Ireland.
