Reminder: we’re closed this week. Sofia’s out east, I’m headed west, and the shop is taking a little break to be with family.

Flowers on my counter. It might sound crazy, but it’s so rare that I bring flowers home. You’d think florists would have fresh flowers all over their house, all the time? Not the case for me.

I’m not totally sure why. At first, my frame of mind was that they were for customers. I never wanted to not have something someone was looking for because I took it home. Over time, I think they stopped feeling like a gift and started feeling like inventory. I stopped seeing them for the beauty they are.

I didn’t realize how much I’d been overlooking until I started stepping back. Not just from the flowers, but from the pace, the pressure, the feeling that this shop needed to be everything. For the last four months, I’ve been behind the operation instead of at the design bench, and that view has given me an amazing gift. I’m starting to see the beauty again.

This arrangement sitting on my bathroom counter seems small, but it’s a big deal. It stopped me in my tracks and made me look. Really look. And it caught me off guard how much that meant.

‘He has made everything beautiful in its time.’ Ecclesiastes 3:11

I think that’s what God has been asking of me for a while now. To step back, to let go, even when I didn’t understand why. I wasn’t ready to hear it, but now I think I finally do. It was never about walking away from what I love. It was about making room to actually see it.

If you’re in a season where you’re feeling a little lost or everything feels like a blur right now, maybe this is your sign to step back too. Not away from it all, just far enough to bring it back into focus. The beauty is always there, but sometimes we need a little distance to notice it.❤️

Thank you to every single one of you who stopped in today for Olivia’s final lemonade stand of the summer! Lemonade, flower crowns, and lots of laughs. Couldn’t have asked for more!

Not only did you make our day, you also helped raise funds for her blessing bags that will be delivered to Crescent Cove this holiday season.

This young lady inspires me so much, and it’s been such a joy spending more time with her this summer!

Olivia Rose Blessing Bags will be at Heavy Petal Floral this Saturday, August 15th from 9:30-12:30. Stop by for a glass of lemonade and make your own flower crown. All proceeds go directly to Olivia’s mission of filling blessing bags for families at Crescent Cove this holiday season.

This is Olivia’s final lemonade stand of the summer, and because we think the world of her, we’re adding a bouquet special to the celebration. This Friday and Saturday, grab a mixed hand tied bouquet for $25, and $10 from every bouquet will be donated to Olivia’s Blessing Bags.

Join us September 4th for a lovely evening celebrating and playing with locally grown blooms. The team at Lone Wolf Greenhouses has been hard at work in their flower fields this summer, tending to some of the most beautiful varieties God created.

In this workshop, you’ll get to pick from a variety of their fresh flowers, and we’ll walk you through creating a simple mason jar arrangement.

What’s that quote about the little things really being the big things?

Sofia texted me this picture yesterday and said “Someone dropped these off for you. He said you’d know who they were from.”

Marigolds. My favorite. Because they were my Grandma’s favorite. She planted them every year. So, I plant them every year. And when we got married, everyone we knew planted them for us to use in my bouquet. The smell transports me back to my childhood, and they’ll forever be my favorite.

When someone not only remembers that but goes out of their way to make a special trip to bring you some just because they know it’ll make you smile…that’s a big thing.

And he was right. I knew exactly who it was as soon as I read it. It could only be Doug. Flower farmer extraordinaire. And a man with a heart bigger than his high tunnels.

Doug, thank you. You have no idea what this meant on a random Tuesday.

Operating this shop has been a whirlwind with so many challenges, but I’m so grateful for the people whose paths I’ve crossed because of it. And for the constant reminders of the beauty in this world. Heavy Petal truly has taught me that the little things really are the big things.
